a free people tend to stay free until some special interest group comes in, conniving to have government enforce it's interests.

usually this group disguises it's self-interest as what's best for the greater good...that is what defines the problem. that and our conditioning...we're conditioned to suspend critical thinking as soon as some group claims to take offense, or have THEIR rights infringed.

would it surprise the OP to discover that freedom is an ATTRIBUTE, not something that governments can revoke at will? what does the OP consider the term "inalienable rights" to mean?
