One thing you get from University (not necessarily College) is the "experience" and influx of different Culture and Ideals. You are 'exposed' to things which make you ponder and often see the World differently.Break away from ethnocentric World views. But alot depends on your major and yourself. Those kids who went to High School and merely memorized will do fine but learn little. others will take small exposure to new ideals and "run with it". I am College Educated and the smartest person I know is a Garbage man (seriously) who barely graduated High School. Guy makes me look daft and foolish and is so informed about a plethora of topics that it is mind blowing. |

Another one stayed in a new cottage and stayed there two weeks before telling the landlord he had no hot water in the shower, he had it in the kitchen and bathroom sink but not in the shower, upon examination the hot and cold pipes were in the wrong place so when he turned on the hot only cold came out. Duh would not the ordinary person just try the other tap first. I have met some real winners in my life time. |

So completing college only proves that you're almost as intelligent as a really cheap computer. Furthermore, the fact that you paid thousands of dollars to learn information that is freely available on the internet proves that you were duped. Still feel superior to people who decided not to hop through hoops, memorize tons of useless information, and pay thousands of dollars for a piece of paper that only makes slave drivers more likely to put you to work? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 911426 Innovation is the true mark of intelligence. Only those who innovate move humanity forward. So instead of memorizing tons of information that you could easily just look up on the internet when needed, innovate. Create new stuff, new ways of thinking, and new ways of doing things. Put your brain to work by flexing its creativity, and leave your mark of intelligence on this planet while advancing its inhabitants. LOL!!! This poster is a high school dropout who was made to feel stupid recently by a college grad. So if all college grads do is memorize info and that means they are dumb then what does not memorizing anything make you? Dumber than dirt, that's what! |

A good University challenges you and encourages free thought. I was (and am) a Libertarian when it wasnt "fashionable" (during the early 1990s before I was voting age)- I had massive debates with my Poly Sci Professor who was a "Liberal" (for lack of a better word)... Disagreements aside, and heated arguments- He CHALLENGED me. Challenged me to look deeper, think harder and better compel my own agenda (since we ALL have an agenda)- And although he and I would never agree on Political issues, I received very high marks and his respect. -Anyhow, its not a clone factory. Go hang out in a University Town for a week and you will see more diversity of thought and creative thinking 'outside the box' than you think. -Try it. Find a Coffee Shop in A2 (U of M) or OSU or any other decent sized University. Sit for a spell... You might be very surprised. |

It's OK people, society has a place for you, too. That place is in the janitorial service field. I hear ditch digging is quite a lucrative career for you dropouts also. In her 'educated' brain the word absolute is apsolute. And for all her years in college she has a job in a doughnut shop. Quoting: Daughter of Nicholas You think THATS bad? I majored in Anthropology. Everyone (and I DO mean everyone) said "what the fuck is wrong with you?" I had shit all figured out too. Was going to go live with the Bushmen in Africa and write books about my journey, learning Shamanism as well (and doing some crazy wicked drugs to contact 'Spirits')- Shit was going to ROCK!!!!!!!! ...Well, here I am many years later and never once have I worked in my chosen Field...Nor will I...Ever... =( BUT, it was probably the best four years of my life- made me who I am... Introduced me to SO MUCH. I would do the same thing if I had it to do all over again. =) |

Graduating college doesn't make you smart. I think most people that went to college would agree. I didn't go to school until my late 20's and had a similar view before. Keep telling yourself it if it make you feel better. Inovation is not done alone, and it isn't all about money. |

Quoting: Daughter of Nicholas You can't even use proper grammar and you're talking about other people? The first sentence you wrote should read: "I know a recent college graduate WHO cannot spell." You wrote "THAT" instead of "WHO." The third sentence you wrote begins with a conjunction. It is improper grammar to begin a sentence with a conjunction. Your friend might be an educated idiot, but you are an uneducated one. |
