I live comfortable, and I buy a ticket for the local lotto now and then. It's not like I scratch together change every week in the hopes to win and pay rent on time. Dumb people do that. I see them all the time at the Casinos. Say they need $1,000 for rent, but only have $500. They go blow that $500 in the hops of winning like $200,000. Then the have $0 for rent. Having half rent is better then no rent. One can easily ask family or friends for some help and do a few side jobs after work for the extra. Casinos can be a sad place desperate place for many.

I think I just saw on nightline, Americans spent 60 billion dollars this year on lottery tickets. I think next year we should get that up to 1 trillion, invest it and distribute the earnings and we can all retire (or at least pay everything off).

And then watch some 84 year old woman, with about 6 months to live, win.

And then after she's gone, her adult children will fight it out, and have their relationships (and lives) destroyed.
