Northern California "Arc Storm" Is Just a Normal And Natural Occourance For This Area!! Doom Off With Evidence!!

This storm pictured above happened also occurred in a drought situation and all i noticed last year from this storm was a few flooded streets and some gusty winds..I got over a foot of rain from that storm last year FYI

I was thinking the same thing. We had a series of storms inside of several days. If I remember right--it ran longer than this one is expected to. People flooded; there were problems, and I was concerned, mostly because I know the soil here saturates very quickly--but..thats about it. There was some damage; we rarely get through a winter without at least one mean storm, but..no one drowned; we all lived.

We've had flooding..even had to evacuate. Thats par for the course here.

Why does EVERYTHING on this site have to be the end of the world?

not uncommon in fnq to get a foot of rain in an hour in a decent monsoonal downpour.

It is amazing how short the average attention span is on this site..pitiful! Everyone should exorcize caution in these areas because as I stated before this storm will pack a punch, but not even close to the magnitude of an "arc Storm" If this setup happened in January or February it would be a whole other story!

Yes but California does not have the climate to support such violent super-cell formation as you guys get down under, so that is a moot point..

I have a rain meter at my house and I will update the thread periodically with my rain totals..This first storm gave me 1.29 inches already

I remember saying that to a guy from Montana one time. But it just kept raining. The problem happens when the ground gets saturated. We ended up having some of the worst flooding I'd ever seen (40 years living in the Mother Lode area.) So we'll have to see what the cumulative affect is.

Yes we will see..I went into town to get some groceries and canned foods and it is already very windy out, This will be a strong storm indeed, only time will tell

winds are thundering now...Lights have started to flicker as well

Up here near Lassen Park in Shasta Co. we are at 4,500 ft elevation and should have snow, a few ft on the ground instead of a warm rain. And last yr we had mostly rain,,certainly not normal.
