OP I have followed and tried to understand both sides of the debate here .... the persistant contrails and the subject of geo-engineering. I'm of the opinion that the two are linked.

The geo-engineering debate seems to be caught up in the legalities, ie: do they have the right to manipulate the climate and also what level of consent is needed from the population or governments or governments of neighbouring countries.

These seem to be the two sticking points that on the surface look like stopping trials of geo-engineering. These questions have been thrashed about climate change and geo-engineering summits for years with no result.

Meanwhile, we have all seen the proliferation of persistant contrails in recent years. Blatant grid patterns, or crosses in the sky, or trails left in front of developing weather patterns. Trails that DON'T go away, but rather form artificial cloud banks that in a matter of hours can turn a bright sunny day into a white haze-out.
