Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lariam is a Heck of a Drug If this does indeed make you go crazy and suddenly try to kill your best friend 15 years after you last took it, it would make a great Doom Drug. Reavers on the port bow! [ link to www.telegraph.co.uk] " Giving evidence at the inquest Professor Rawlings’ wife Linda, 50, said he had initially suffered mental health “side effects” 15-years ago after taking the controversial anti-malaria drug Lariam during a holiday to Kenya.
In April 2011 he was sectioned and admitted to a mental health hospital in Oxford after suffering a complete breakdown.
Mrs Rawlings said her husband had suffered immediate side effects after talking Lariam, but insisted that the breakdown in 2011 was unrelated.
Dr Sivia told the inquest that on the night in question he had invited Professor Rawlings to stay at his home because he had been showing similar symptoms to those when he had suffered his earlier breakdown.
He described his friend as confused and agitated and explained how he suddenly walked towards him shouting: “I’m going to kill you.” Sure sounds promising: [ link to www.cbsnews.com] " Last summer, four soldiers from Ft. Bragg were accused of killing their wives. Two of the men committed suicide, and the other two await trial. So many brutal crimes, so similar, so close in time – raised questions, and the army sent a team to investigate.
One possible suspect was mefloquine - brand name Lariam, an anti-malarial drug. It was invented by the U.S. Army and is routinely given to soldiers deployed overseas. In scientific terms, Lariam can cause neuropsychiatric adverse events. In plain language, it can make lose your mind. No one questions Lariam's effectiveness in preventing the deadly disease of malaria. Millions of tourists and other world travelers have taken it with no problem.
But a significant number of people have seen and felt first hand its devastating side effects. Vicki Mabrey reports. The FDA says [ link to www.fda.gov] Lariam can cause serious mental problems. • Some people who take Lariam have sudden serious mental problems, including: • severe anxiety • paranoia (feelings of mistrust towards others) • hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there) • depression • feeling restless • unusual behavior • feeling confused In some patients these serious side effects can go on after Lariam is stopped.Last Edited by zenobiaphobia on 11/29/2012 12:42 AM |

Quoting: AFGW 21140569 Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine)has not been associated with this problem, if that is any help...if you are on Lariaum currently, you may wish to bring your concerns up with your doctor, and discuss his/her feelings on the matter, your alternatives, etc. If you are currently taking this drug with no ill effects to control an autoimmune disease, please do not stop taking it suddenly. If you start feeling the urge to kill your friends, family or random strangers, please inform a medical professional promptly. I can read this aloud in a soothing voice over the credits, if needed. Last Edited by zenobiaphobia on 11/29/2012 02:50 AM |

Quoting: AFGW 21140569 I am a clinical herbalist. You ought to know that contemporary herbalism has a better track record in the treatment of Lupus than MDs do. I don't mean self treatment with herbs. Treatment is best done collaboratively or by a Naturopath. I strongly suggest you see an herbalist or ND. |
