I've never shared this here but we had a "miracle" in our family. My grandfathers heart was 98% blocked and we had given up on hope. After a few X-rays it came to show that his heart had grown an extra ventricle in order to work better. Amazing I know, but it happened. So he now has 3.

Evolution at work I would guess.

The average human both male and female are growing taller over time and eventually I'm guessing that the human body would have to adapt somehow in order to maintain the increase in height. This could be by bones becoming longer or in the case of the spine, perhaps an extra vertebrae.

Over the generations there have always been sudden jumps in evolution. Perhaps this is one of them.

People with RH Negative blood typically have an extra vertabre and rib.

There are many anatomical variations. There's some folks who don't possess a particular muscle. Others have supernumerary bdy parts. Some have developed their heart in different ways as the heart was forming at birth. Others have minor things like a "freckle" which actually is an extra nipple. We are not all the same.

In some cases an anatomist is called in for some surgeries because of these anatomical differences. Of course some people don't form in regular ways and hence die shortly after birth since their formation is not compatible with life.

Some have adaptations (not to bring up all of that since some Christians seem blindsided by theories) in which their muscles are extremely overdeveloped like Liam Hoefstra, the dubbed SuperBoy.

Perhaps these are mutations, or merely they are normal variations in a species. It's more fun to think that some people are Xmen, but it's probably not bourne out by science.

I have an extra vertebra but am not rh-, but my mother is and I have many of the rh- tendencies such as low body temp and blood pressure.

I'm not rh- either. My blood pressure runs a bit high and my body temperature is always running high. I don't notice it but my woman does when she snuggles in on a cold night. She won't let me touch her in the summer when it's hot out though.

if you do have an extra vertebrae and happen to need spinal surgery, choose your surgeon carefully and make sure he is fully aware of the situation. i would also insist he refer to the vertebrae in such a way as to avoid confusion w/other doctors in the future. ie. if you need a fusion on l6/s1, your records should state that, and he should refer to your fusion as such in your presence.

Negative ghost rider - that pattern is incorrect. My wife, father in law, and one daughter all have 2 extra vertebrae and all are positive Rh.

Cool thing is that my daughter sustained a back injury from a big fall and because of those extras, the doctor thinks she dodged becoming paralyzed. Not sure why, but that was his opinion.

I'm afraid that might be the case.

Very interesting. I have an extra pair of ribs (on the lower end of the cage), but had never really thought about it as being indicative of any heritage. I am tall, but when I compare myself to those of similar height that I know I'm the only one with the extra pair of ribs.

As for my spine I'm unsure if I have an extra vertebrae or not. I've never had any examination of it, preferring instead to stretch out any aches or sprains I get.

I doubt though it's a factor of being RH Negative (Just for the record I'll admit I am O-Neg), since the genes for blood typing and skeletal structure wouldn't necessarily be in the same sequence. If anything I'd put my weight in on the theory I saw someone put forward that it is the body's answer to our increasing height.
