I'm conservative. I prefer Star Trek. Your theory doesn't hold up.

Mr Worf, please escort the OP to his quarters.
 Quoting: ISO

Same here... But my opinion doesn't count for much as I have yet to actually watch Star Wars. Plus, from what I know of Star Trek and what little I do know of Star Wars I am inclined to agree with OP.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12373605

There is plenty of war in Star Trek. It's not all roses and honey. As far as money goes, everyone has everything they need for FREE, and in unlimited amounts. Food, clothing etc. The only thing left to do is explore and fight when required.

Star Wars is a much less refined world. It's just somewhat shallow. Star Trek's universe is very complete and fulfilling.
 Quoting: ISO

Star Trek The Next Generation is the Star Trek in question. Remember that.

Liberals hate money, they are as close to anarchists you can get without being a radical. They would love to have everything handed to them, simply because they exist. While the Conservative would work independently, for their yield
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12373605

Liberal anarchists? wtf are you smoking? Your right about they want everything handed to them. They want BIG government to do the handing out. Liberals and anarchists are about as far apart as you can get. If the world slipped in to anarchy who do you think would be giving hand outs?

For me personally. The science thing. Id probably fit right on the crew.

Star wars has too much religious lore and hippy bullshit. Id be down with Han Solo or Bobba Fet though.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28648467

Exactly. Liberals do not like religious lore. However I do not agree that Star Wars has hippy BS, Star Wars is rough, they are in a constant battle for the force and the galaxy, the Jedi Order itself says they are not there to preserve peace, they are there to protect the republic, even if it means all out war as shown in Attack of the Clones. However in Star Trek, the Next Generation, every, almost every single dilemma is solved through diplomatic processes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12373605

Not true. The federation had to go to war a lot. Especially against the Borg.
 Quoting: ISO

if you examine the enemies of the federation, and past enemies, they are the Klingons, Romulans, and Borg. All of which have HEAVY nationalistic ideals and brotherhood, they are individual, the borg to not conform to other traditions rather they assimilate others into their own culture, Klingons believe in their military superiority and their warrior traditions, and because of this they have a bitter relation with the Federation, only kept at peace because the Federation NEEDS them during war, just as the Anti-War Liberals are fine with the military when they NEED them. Liberals will complain about the police 24/7, but when they're attacked they LOVE the police.

Would i roll with Kirk and Spock or Yoda and Mace Windu.

Tough call. But it would be Kirk and Spock IMO.

I'd want to see Darth Vader fight some motherfuckin Daleks though, and some raptors.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28648467

The star trek i'm referring to is the next generation....no spok or kirk
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12373605

Id just find YODA annoying as fuck, im down with Data and Picard.

Sorry! Maybe if Obi-Wan, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, a borg R2D2, a reprogrammed terminator t800, Predator, a tame xenomorph and the entire cast of firefly were on my crew i might change my mind.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28648467

Data is the best droid in the universe. He's so much better than C3P0 and R2TrashCan.

Data even got shot in the chest multiple times, and still said "greetings" to the shooter.
 Quoting: ISO

Woah dude, hold on to your Data-boner there. I dont disagree, but my crew is based on awesome factor.

I said a BORG R2D2. He'd be in charge of electronic warfare on my ship. The terminator would be my zero oxygen boarding droid.

Imagine the chaos if the Terminator, Predator and a Xenomorph were aboard an enemy ship.

Imagine how useless a light saber would be against a T1000. How many times could you cut that shit in half before you got tired.

But what if they BOTH bore the crap out of you?

Old school sci-fi or nothing.

Gee, is ALIEN more "badass" than Predator? Oooo, such deep meaning in that one.

Take all the lame, repetitious cool special effects and give me something to think about. I'll fill in the blanks with MY imagination, not some over paid Hollyweird team writers. (I spent 14 years in the film business in Tinseltown and designed and built a lot of sets. Money does NOT equate to creativity there anymore. Money does exist in the Star Trek universe. Remember Quark form DS9 and his latinum bars?

It's just in Starfleet that money is not used. However, if Riker goes on vacation on Riza, he will definately need some $1 dollar bills. :)

Re: Why Liberals Prefer Star Trek, and Conservatives Star Wars.
It seems to me that you have these reversed. Conservatives do not recognize "group" differences and prefer peace through strength. No liberal ever discovered a new land and the current progressives in charge have cancelled the space program to use that money as handout to the Vulnibles. Conservatives do not focus on hyphenation or pander to special interest groups.

Liberals should prefer Star Wars because their overall them is to to maintain their balance of power by keeping everyone separate, and then pitting each group against one another. The state constantly that they are for mixing and diversity, but identify each group separately stating that each group maintain its own traditions.

Really, i preferred star wars over star trek , as the the sets ewere better constructed and the acting not quite as wooden.

And what about the princess (either one)? She's ten times as hot as Deanna Troy.

Money is not an object in Star Trek. It plays no part in society.
 Quoting: ISO

That's not true, even in the original series.

In the episode "The Apple" (childlike natives controlled by a machine called "Vaal") Spock nearly dies after taking a chestful of poison thorns. When Spock is revived, Kirk says, "Are you trying to get yourself killed? Do you know how much Starfleet has invested in you?" Spock responds with "One hundred twenty-two thousand, five hun..." and is cut off by Kirk with "Nevermind!"

Now, we don't know for sure what is is that was invested, though money/cost seems the most likely.

In the episode "The Trouble With Tribbles" Cyrano Jones is trying to sell tribbles to the K-7 space station's bartender as an item the bartender could then sell to tourists. Jones asks for "10 credits" each while the bartender counters with "1 credit", then reluctantly raises his offer to "2 credits", to which Jones replies, "Twice nothing is still nothing."

In this episode Chekhov remarks that Uhuru was going shopping (on the station) and that he was going with her.

In the episode "The Doomsday Machine" when Kirk, aboard the derelict Constellation, wishes out loud he had some phasers and Scotty remarks: "Phasers? You've got 'em... I have one bank recharged", Kirk responds with, "Scotty! You've just earned your pay for the week!"

There are probably other examples as well, but those are the one I remember off the top of my head.
Three Bribes for the Democrats sneaky and sly,
Seven for the Bankers in their halls of gold,
Nine for Labor Unions sucking us dry,
One for the Liar Chief leaving us cold
In Washington D.C. where politicians lie.

One Bill to rule them all, One Bill to find them,
One Bill to bring them all and in the debt-ness bind them
In Washington D.C. where politicians lie.
