Message Subject Poor Households Earning $13K Per Year Spend Over $1K On Lottery Tickets

States across the nation rely on poor suckers to fund their spending. No, we’re not talking about taxpayers – we’re talking about lottery ticket purchasers. According to new studies, households earning $13,000 per year spend almost $1,170 per year on lottery tickets – 9 percent of total income. As it turns out, many people living in poverty make poor financial decisions.

Always knocking the poor. While I agree that the odds are definitely not in their favor, it is a rational decision: the off chance of getting out of poverty gives hope....

I'm not knocking the poor for buying lotto tickets, I'm knocking these poor idiots who spend almost 10% of their income on lotto. Save some money, buy your kids some better food, get a fricking education, but don't squander 10% of your income on the lotto

It's not that they spend it all at once. And face it, poor parents can NEVER fund private education -- the kids are on their own. Savings? haha.

I'll describe this rational decision. Imagine this: everytime they go shopping with the kids they have to deny them sweets, fast food, toys, games, and everything else they might demand. So what simple pleasure will suffice? Buy a lottery ticket,,, it's a game so the kids love it,,, and alot of times you win, not much but watch those little eyes light up!, And shit!, you never know there might be a big payoff and easy street out of poverty.

It's pathetic life for some people, but it is a rational decision....
