Best .40 Cal. Semi-Auto?

The CZ is an excellent weapon. It continues the slide to frame configuration that made CZ famous. Very reliable.

The Springfield XD series (pick your type), is an excellent choice as well. The grip safety makes this firearm, even over a Glock.

I like my CZ Duty 9mm better than my XDm 9mm so I'm leaning toward the Duty .40 if I buy new.
I can save $100 on a clean, used 40P and hope it's as good, or better than the Duty.

Seems one of the CZ's, maybe the 40P, has the CZ75 frame with a Springfield .40 slide. Possible Frankengun but good anyway.

The CZ40P uses the same slide as the 40B on top of a PO1 alloy frame, so its kind of a frankengun. The only other major difference is that the 40B has the thumb safety and the 40P is a decocker. The trigger parts are basically the same components, along with the barrel, so any difference in accuracy or trigger pull is based on the individual gun (grip preferance) and/or objectivity of the shooter.

The CZ sounds like a perfect fit for you.

I am partial to a mechanical safety, but not a deal-killer.

Check out the HK USP Tactical (or even the plain USP, P30, or even the P2000). Great weapons, no doubt, but expensive.

CZ is a world class top gunmaker and a great great deal for the money but the 40P is a dud

go with the CZ75B in .40 Period and get a kadett kit 22lr as well , you only live once, AWESOME training tool - bar none

and please don't get a glock, ignore the glocktards

Thanks for the advice. The firing line forum mostly agreed that the CZ75B in .40SW was a better gun than the 40P. Cabela's have the S & W's and Walthers with no payments or interest for a year and some have a $50 rebate.

Hear great things on the USP's but they are usually $750+ used in N. Texas
