Does that make sense? Since when should an innocent child suffer for someone elses sin? What sort of "god" would kill an innocent child, and cause that child to suffer for the blatant penalty of MURDER and ADULTRY that David was excused from?

Maybe because..one..to save that child from the shame of being illegitimate which was a very nasty thing to be in those days..and two..god needed a legitimate heir for the throne.

Just sayin...

Consider it a lesson in spiritual cause & effect. Everything we do has consequences for someone somewhere. That's all I got.

The entire David-Bathsheba story should be a HUGE RED FLAG for all "Christians" that SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT with their "Judaeo-Christian" religion.

What? How about an eye for an eye doctrine? Please tell me how an innocent child of only a few days old SINNED in the eyes of god and was guilty of anything but being born? Please tell me how the KILLING/MURDER of that child nulled the MURDER and ADULTRY of David? So "god" forgives David of his HORRIBLE actions, but tortures and kills an INNCOENT child? WTF? Sounds more like "Satan" if you ask me...

Well...go on, tell the good people on here tonight what it IS about the "David-Bathsheba" story that you think should be "a HUGE RED FLAG for all Christians!"...

He didn't, and I suggested no such thing

I didn't claim that it nullified or rectified David's sins, either.

Would you agree that all of our actions have consequences, many of which we can't begin to grasp in an immediate sense? Most folks with some level of common sense or spiritual inclination have no problem with this notion - not to suggest that you don't belong to either of those categories, but it's really not all that far-fetched, is it?

I still cannot grasp how anyone with two brain cells to rub together could concede that this child should have died for the inequities of another? Makes absolutely no sense from a pure logical perspective. So god violated his own laws and murdered an inncoent life... oh thats right, never stopped him before to change the rules... oh, and what about David? He comitted adultry and murder and yet remained alive when the law stated that he should be STONED TO DEATH.

You got to remember that when the tribe of Judah was taken into captivity to babylon they lost all their history, then 70 years later all they found was the book of Isaiah, they since then have reconstructed very little of its history.

I think it's the fact that god is usually depicted as a murderous psychopath but for some really odd reason this completely fails to register with christians.
I'm sure if a description of one of Crowley's beastly acts was recorded christians would be outraged, but when "god" does something equally horrific there's always a good reason.
What's up with that anyway?

Re: Why did god kill Davids adulturous child when in fact David was the one guilty of adultry and MURDER?
The prophet Nathan told David a parable about injustice done by a rich man stealing a poor man's lamb, and David, outraged, decreed that the rich man pay fourfold for his offense. David himself turned out to be this rich man, and because "the measure with which we judge will be measured again to us", Dave lost four sons - beginning with the one from Bathsheba, followed by Amnon, Adonijah and Absalom (who all died by violence and treachery).

David brought the consequences upon them all himself. Everything we do and say affects people in ways we don't imagine. It's a good lesson about learning mercy - it's always effortless to curse people until we realize (the hard way) that we're probably just as bad, if not worse.

Further, the newborn "Son of David" may well have been symbolic of the innocent Christ dying for the sins of the guilty.

Was it fair to the baby? Of course not. But he's OK now, and will probably be rewarded for serving his brief calling just by showing up.

Does that make sense? Since when should an innocent child suffer for someone elses sin? What sort of "god" would kill an innocent child, and cause that child to suffer for the blatant penalty of MURDER and ADULTRY that David was excused from?

Seems like common sense to me. Instant deliverance for the child to Heaven. Instant and lasting punishment for David to learn to abide by the Laws of THE CREATOR of all things.

It's just a bunch of old stories. You're wasting time trying to figure out the logic. The truth is that these stories were wrote down by uber elite priests at a time when only they could read. They wrote down whatever would support their continued dominion.

Ezra and his scribes had to come up with something for their Bible. But there were probably records in Egypt and Babylon they could consult. Just like now, if the US was destroyed, you could still find records about the US history in the libraries of other countries.

Us as Muslims believe he did NOT commit adultery and did NOT kill his child.

He is chosen by God... why would God choose someone that has committed adultery and then killed his child?

For the same reason that an estranged husband will kill the wife's children when he's angry at her - to make her suffer. If you're a guy, you should be able to understand the insanity of bible-god.
