Looks like a plane was in a holding pattern.

that's just it nothing was showing up on plane finder app, or the plane tracking website what ever it was up in the sky was no commercial aircraft

to the north of were we live is Newcastle Airport usually they have a holding pattern out over the Sea, never over this way.

planes in holding patterns are not high enough to make contrails, as they are in landing process.

Military tankers and support aircraft often fly racetrack patterns routinely. Doesn't mean they're spraying anything (or even capable of it).
