Can you blink your eyes or talk AFTER you have been beheaded? | |

I think it was on liveleak, it's an old-style video looks like it's from the 80's. But the guy blinked twice, after being told to blink twice if he can hear the doctor. interesting, really sorry i don't have the link, it was like 3 years ago I saw it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12373605 I vaguely recall something about that, I think the guy was Australian. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28709988 So it's impossible for you to make noise through your mouth without breathing? Are you that stupid? READ what I said again DICKHEAD! No..dont bother..ILL POST it in the hope that your rather soggy an untintelligent BRAIN can absorb it.. I SAID... It takes about 30 seconds for conciousness to fade after the neck is severed. Talking is impossible because that requires lungs and a voicebox.. But one can look around and KNOW what has happenned. Chop off a chooks head and see for yourself. They look around and still react to stimuli for about 30 seconds AFTER they head is cut from the body. And you're still wrong. A person can still talk without lungs and a voice box. Maybe they can't talk without a voice box...but definitely without lungs. I never heard a chicken manage a sigle cluck after its head was off. Can you imagine trying to make any noise at all with a mouthfull of blood..NO lungs..and no voivebox? Now remind me again..HOW is it possible to talk or make any noise voice wise after your head is off? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 19779165 United States 11/29/2012 10:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is it possible for a person to still be conscious after he/she has been beheaded? Could they be aware of what has happened to them? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25413197 It would seem possible due to brain activity... Could they try to talk? Or look around??? I'm curious... Are you planning to practice this on someone OR is it just MORBID curiosity??? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 28752316 United States 11/29/2012 11:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes. The people in beheading videos (getting their heads sawed off with a hunting knife) are probably partly unconscious from fear and horror before they are cut. Nature is merciful like that. Its almost certain no head severed in that manner has ever spoken or been conscious. But when Muslims ruled Spain, beheading was the most humane execution possible. Henry VIII offered to bring the best Spanish swordsman to behead his beloved Anne Bolyn. I think she chose an axe. In those executions the person was likely to be somewhat reconciled to their fate. They would be religiously prepared and in a state of psychological dissociation or mild trance. The severing blow would be swift and painless. Its very possible the brain would continue to function until it bled out. Four minutes perhaps. I am not aware of any famous last word of the severed heads. I'm sure history records the treatment of the head, whether it flew off or rolled or was shown to the crowd (or shown its body!) or treated respectfully. I can't think of an instance of a severed head speaking. I've read accounts of witnesses declaring they saw what seemed to them signs of consciousness--eye contact and so on. They could have been hysterical witnesses. There are undoubtedly more gruesome accounts from the French guillotine. Again, you have to account for hysteria among the viewers as well as the natural human love of augmenting dramatic stories with romantic or gruesome details. Beheadings by accident or in battle are probably such a surprise and preceded by such chaos that the beheaded person doesn't register what has happened. There are reports of hanged men running after being cut down then collapsing. Also, the bodies reflexes are such that a suicide or gunfighter really can get off a shot with his brain destroyed. |

Bowyn Aerrow User ID: 28433574 United States 12/04/2012 11:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Typically though, the shock of the ordeal and the sudden loss of blood from the brain causes the brain to black out within a second after the head departs the body, thus such activity may not be related to conscious awareness of what is going on, but is the sporadic neural activity of a dying brain. The shock of the event most likely is pain free as well. Having all of those nerves of the spine severed in one blow most likely prevents sensations from being felt for a few seconds, long enough for the brain to succumb to unconsciousness. Patrick Bateman User ID: 24955785 United States 12/04/2012 11:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | blinking, yes. talking, dont be such a complete fucktard. talking requires the ability to to force air through your vocal cords, and then your tongue and lips. hard to do that without lungs and a diaphragm, genius Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28147705 Inaccurate statement. A person can still talk without breathing. Try it. Not when the muscles required are severed or non existent. Some gurgle noises at best may be made. |
