Anonymous Coward User ID: 21734520 Finland 11/30/2012 04:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't focus on the past or future. Focus on present. Note that there is a difference between thinking that you are a total failure and being a total failure. Accept that a part of you is thinking that you are a total failure, but don't accept it as an objective fact. Us who are suffering from depression tend to get caught in vicious feedback loops of negative thinking. Learn to recognize such thoughts, acknowledge them (fighting them makes them only stronger) and let them pass through you and disappear. Learn how to think of symbolic representations for your fears, anger and sense of worthlessness and imagine how the symbols blown to bits in the sky, get crushed to nothingness or simply disappear (whatever works for you). Life is life. It often sucks badly but ultimately it's up to you how you want to see it. I've been to the abyss of psychotic depression where you stop feeling anything. It is pure hell. Now I appreciate even the sucky and painful bits of life, because I'm glad I can feel it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28378701 The happy fakeness is not REAL. I agree 100%. The fake happy "life is beautiful" crap is annoying. If you live in reality you have no other choice but to be depressed lol. Wrong, when you start making the most of the darkest parts of life- because reality is depressing you will find happiness- You jut need to realise when its actually getting you out of your cycle and moving you forward instead of just falling back on your failsafe when something untowards pops up- whether you realise it or not. I would say yours is acknowledging the 'depressive' roads your mind takes you down as fact. If that were my mind I would be wondering why I am always drawn back to the same point.. Let me let you in on a little secrete of mine, as far as god goes I don't believe in your kind- I think we all god just gotter look deeper inside, that's probably what your bible means by you seek and you find. |

If you live in reality you have no other choice but to be depressed lol. I used to think like that, but now I find that attitude somewhat smug. Depression is nothing to be proud of. Feeling crappy all day long doesn't make you a better person or grant you deeper insights into reality. Viewing everything as dark and gloomy is just as unbalanced as living a life where everything is absolutely fabulous and positive. It's not a choice between two extremes. Sorting out your depression doesn't mean that you'll have to turn into a love-and-sunshine person. There is a middle-ground, you know? During my long recovery from major depressive disorder (including the psychotic breakdown) I found a balance. I'll never be happy-go-lucky kind of a guy and I'm not going to pretend to be one. I'm more introverted, moody and even depressed than the average population, but at least now I can function and occasionally even find and accept pleasure in being alive. |

We are free to scrawl our own little design on this blank world, and when we die it's all over and we don't have to care about anything anymore. To me it's a comforting thought. |

When I gave away my last strength in hope of finding purpose, to at least help at making someone else happy only to be used and thrown to the gutter. When I found my body, soul, and mind defective and thus not worth persevering. I realized that I could find false joy in chemicals. When they are gone I am a lifeless shell. When they are there I can fool myself into beliving I am more than that. Yes there is a chemical imbalance. People who are depressed are the most in tune with reality. |
