Since all throughout this summer we had thunderstorms, severe ones even. And with lightning comes a local EMP and power spike (heck, gamma rays even!) our power kept on going. there are any number of reasons that electronic transients occur and effect electric gear, even emp is just another kind of transient, but the power overwhelms the circuitry by orders of magnitude. If you can see a flash and your electronics dont fry, it isnt an emp. If you had a chemical emp device and could see the explosion, it should fry everything in direct line of sight |

I saw the pylon the next day, it had melted as if made of wax. The sky lit up brighter than daylight and the same blue colour. The voltage spike would cause all earth leakages to trip.
