I has been less than 2 hours or so. How long does it take for fish to die and float?
Point is, these things never get better in the hours afterward . THey usually get worse. It takes days for all to be cleaned up.

I used to live 3 miles from there 5 yrs. ago. Now Im 20 miles. Also please note that if you listened, these tankers are built like tanks and this was a LOW speed incident, just the seals on top are leaking very MINOR amounts and YES that is just fog, there aren't even dead fish. DOOM on DOOMTARDS.

Real close and a direct tributary to the Delaware river...close to Philly Airport and 295 too.

So a bridge just flat out collapses on what is likely a well traveled rail line.

There are warnings and alarms that would have fired off all over the place, in the control centers, probably on the line itself, but anyway a lot of em. The way that works is more or less there is an electrical signal that is sent along the tracks. When that signal gets broken just like breaking any alarm contact or circuit?...the alarms go off.

Soooo...this bridge either collapses at just the right timing so that the train itself did not have the time to stop, or all those alarms just failed.

Sounds pretty suspect to me.....

Man, between the neverending sewage leak from Sandy & now this, NJ is really getting pummeled.

I have seen different stories where schools are put in lockdown for a criminal suspect in an area, this derailment and a few other reasons. I don't understand how a lockdown can include keeping parents from picking up their children. For this situation, maybe I would feel better if my children were with me and not at a school that is within a mile of this derailment. I would want to drive them to a area further away from being exposed to these chemicals. Exactly how do they keep you from getting your children! Wonder if most parents know how the lockdown works for their children's school.

Thankfully my children are now in high school, and the older one drives them both. I have told them, if there is ever some type of lockdown situation, we will be in contact and determine if they should leave. And if WE decide they should leave I will go to the school and get them. Told them when they were in elementary school that if I wanted to pick them up and I was told, no by some admin., they could look for me to be driving through the front doors to get them!! I am far from a non-conforming badazz! I would be dressed nicely for work in a skirt and heels, but I would have no problem finding a way to get my children. What would happen to children in a lockdown situation if there was another 9/11, or worse? I would not comply to this Nazi crap!

Emergency crews are on the scene of a freight train derailment and hazardous material spill in southern New Jersey.

The Gloucester County Times reports four tank cars were dumped into Mantua Creek in Paulsboro Friday and are leaking vinyl chloride.

The newspaper says 18 people are reported to be having difficulty breathing.
