Train derailment sends chemical tank cars into New Jersey creek

PAULSBORO, N.J. – Emergency crews are on the scene of a freight train derailment and hazardous material spill in southern New Jersey.

The Gloucester County Times reports four tank cars were dumped into Mantua Creek in Paulsboro Friday and are leaking vinyl chloride.

The newspaper says 18 people are reported to be having difficulty breathing.

It's not clear what caused the derailment.

People are saying this is a really old bridge.

The president is supposed to fly into the Philly International Airport soon too, which is directly across the Delaware River from the train derailment. NBC 10 just reported that since the winds are blowing about 5mph from the East, any possible spread of the chemicals would go West toward the airport. As of now, they said this is not affecting plane travel, including the president's arrival. Interesting...
