a few weeks ago here in ft laud an 82 YO man was sentenced to three years in prison for letting his dog attack a cat and kill it.

it was all caught on video and hopefully this POS will die in prison.

The article was several months old. I wonder what happened to them; don't remember seeing anything about it but then I don't watch much local news.

It is a shame that they could have gotten sent to prison for only 2 years, but then that's all that piece of shit Michael Vick got.

Side notes re fucktard M. Vick: all but 2 of his 50 pit bulls were successfully rehabilitated and were adopted into forever homes.

Are you stupid? Animals are in fact protected by the criminal justice system. Every state has animal cruelty laws, including for livestock, so farmers/processors who are abusive get charged. Intent here is irrelevant. An animal can be killed, but it can't be murdered, since animals don't have rights. However, a pet owner has a legitimate grievance at civil tort if someone kills his pet. There's no provable harm to society here, so it's not criminal.

So animals have a right to live. Okay, now go picket outside of every restaurant and grocery store in the country to prove that. Most "animal rights" types are liberals who support abortion, so you probably don't even think humans have a right to live.

Humans have a right to live because we can decree it, animals can't, so it's up to mankind to act as custodian of the earth. However, stomping kittens isn't a criminal act, it's a sick act, about as sick as playing "Call of Duty" or other violent and depraved video games.

Farmers harvest their steers for meat for commerce, while these sickos stomped cats for commerce. And I know that many of you think that animals are the moral equivalent of humans, but there's simply no reason that any legal jurisdiction in the country should move against such commerce as this. I myself find it abhorrent, but the law isn't there to ensure a lack of abhorrence in life, the law is there to ensure that civil order is maintained.

No one is saying you can't kill animals. It's sanctioned by every state through farming/ranching, processing, and hunting/fishing. It's the torture that is not allowed, and every jurisdiction in the U.S. has found a compelling reason to protect animals from torture. These people and those that buy their videos should die.

Yes, I know all that about the penal code at animal abuse. But I maintain that those laws are largely unjust, unnecessary, unconstitutional, and capricious. I don't like kitten stomping any more than anyone else, but it's simply outrageous to confer human rights upon animals. Conferring human rights upon animals is satanic.
