They like to make promises, but they don't keep them. They'll promise you a raise after 90 days or 6 months and a year later HR will be dodging your calls and hanging up on you, seriously, they hang up on me!?!?They'll promise you an assigned truck and a year later you'll still be slip-seating.They'll promise you good equipment but not a truck in their fleet would pass a real DOT inspection.Their trucks are junk, I don't think anyone ever told them they can buy trucks new. They prefer to buy everyone else's used up trash and then they will lecture you at "safety" meetings about down time and milking the clock when you spend a couple hours a day trying to duct tape this trash together to limp it out of the yard. But if/when you get pulled over and inspected it's your fault that MBI buys trash and you have the misfortune of driving it.The "mechanics" can't seem to fix anything correctly. Repairs are half-assed attempts to hide the problem, but mostly they don't fix anything they just sign the DVIR saying the repair is not necessary.A/C is not a DOT requirement so guess what, that's right, the trucks don't have it and MBI refuses to pay to get it fixed. So when the heat index is 100 and the temp inside the truck is 120, well that's your problem. Management doesn't care, their offices have A/C. Mirror heaters, same thing. Who cares that this is North Dakota and its winter, right? They'll raise the rent on company housing with zero explanation. It's a nice subtle way of an across the board pay cut for everyone in company housing but they think we're too stupid to realize that's what it is. They brag about paying 100% of your medical insurance, but the insurance is a high deductible plan that is only worth it if you never ever use it.They like to encourage drivers to call in and report other drivers to safety. Everywhere you go you'll be looking over your shoulder for back-stabbing punks who think they'll get a raise for catching you without a chock block. The primary goal of management seems to be a desire to be left alone. Don't go to them with issues or problems, they'll just pass the buck and blow you off or fire you for being a troublemaker.Dispatch, mechanics, admin, all of them seem to forget that drivers are the ones going out into into weather extremes, on mud ice and snow, and doing the actual work that this company gets paid for. I can't count the number of times I've had to tear down insulting and offensive (often times racial, misogynistic or homophobic) notes posted in the break room about "dumbass drivers" and I get tired of overhearing all the trash talk when I walk into a room. And try to go a whole week without some lazy mechanic making a smartass comment to you.Recently they implemented a policy which states you can't clock in or log in until your truck is in the yard. So you come in at your scheduled time and if the guy from the previous shift wants to bonus himself a couple extra hours you sit and wait off the clock for him to get back in and complete his post-trip.Drivers get two paid holidays while office staff gets eight. Most of the bathrooms are posted "office staff only" as is any parking space within 200 yards of the office. In other words they make damn sure drivers understand their place in the company. We're just the dirty trash that risks their lives and fights temperature extremes for 60-70 hours a week to pay the salaries of all the soft pasty office weasels. (I don't expect anyone to kiss my ass for the work I do, but I don't expect to be treated like a second-class citizen for it either. They belittle, demean and whine at us at every meeting about how the company is losing money and we need to be more efficient then they turn around and hire 5 new office weasels to watch over us.Put in your two weeks notice and they'll fire you immediately. Get fired from MBI and you'll have a hard time getting hired anywhere else in ND because MBI has blacklist agreements with most of the big companies in the stateYou can make decent money at MBI but you can make decent money a lot of places without having to drive junk and be treated like oilfield trash.
