Lonely in the San Fernando Valley
What is one to do? I used to have a girlfriend, and just as many 'friends' as the next guy. I only have one single friend who I can truly call my friend, and my comrade. I met him in 9th grade, and since then we have been very close. but these days he is busy becoming an engineer and I'm left wondering what I should do?

I'm just a human being, and if it wasn't for the chemicals in my brain driving me crazy, pushing me to find some people to interact with, I'd be alright just going solo like I always have. I just don't see the point in making friends that I will never be able to talk to or be real with. What am I saying here? I don't even know. I've lost motivation to stay alive in a sense..my bedroom is filthy beyond imagination. It's almost like I'm ready to die. Not suicidal, but more like an animal that stops eating and slowly just curls up and dies. I feel so pathetic, wallowing in my own sorrow.

The chemicals in my brain are pushing me to find a female companion, but I know that it's not the way to go.
My license is supended, I have no car, I have no job. I don't have a single dollar in my pocket. I just want to be loved for who I am, but I know I have nothing to offer anybody. I am losing my footing. Staying awake in this world is becoming very tiring, and sometimes all I want is to not wake up in the morning.

I respect you immensely and wish nothing but happiness to you and your family. To invite a stranger in such a manner is very saintly and if there is a karmic system in place, I hope you get everything that's coming to you.

However, to meet with anybody as a result of this post, would be the end of my dignity and self respect. I can't meet with you since you got to know me in this fashion, and the embarrassment would be too much.
Sometimes what somebody looks like on the outside, doesn't match their inside. My inside is full of love and kindness and wanting to belong. On the outside I'm battle scarred and the type of person you cross the street at night to avoid.

But you made my day with what you said, because I surely would never invite a stranger in such a fashion, and neither would 99.99% of other people.

ironically, rain is my favorite weather. I want to move to Oregon, Washington, or even England. The rain makes me want to go outside and meet people and do things. Come to think of it, when it rains I feel alive, and I want to go out and explore.

How old are you and are you homeless? You can still hang with us. Come to our hotel and take a shower and eat.

Don't we always regret when we have an outburst that leaves others thinking less of us? But some things are meant to happen I suppose.

I feel your pain. I'm about twice your age, but in a similar freefall except I have job/companion/etc. Sorry son, it does not really get better. Unless you set yourself free. Figure out what you love and just set yourself free before it is too late.

right on the money. I weight 285lbs and the only thing I still make it out of my house for is a short walk to the gym in the middle of the night to hit the weights. yeah I look burly and mean. but this is Los Angeles, and either you look mean, or youre a target.

I come from the 3rd world. I've only been in the US for 9 years, and 8 of them were in los angeles. I've been in the valley the last year. it's 100x nicer here than I've ever experienced in my life.

Re: Lonely in the San Fernando Valley
I lived at home with my parents in the Valley when I was in my 20's, and I have to say that the level of depression I felt was astounding. The Valley, frankly, blows. Now I'm 40 and feeling good. Things will change, they always do. Come up with a vision of what kind of life you want and focus on that, instead of your current situation... Until then, know that L.A. can be a cold and brutal place, so to be truly happy there would be something of a miracle. But it can be done. Oh yeah, and try to have compassion for other people in your situation.
