only idiots don't know this, mostly the ones that think we wage war in the Middle East to profit ourselves.

We don't get much from the Middle East as people seem to think.

Also I saw in a thread a Canadian say that the U.S. doesn't have any oil. Have seen that before from others as well.

Well, we produce 40% of our own so we sure as heck do!

And we could much, much more.

The US has oil in Alaska that would put us over the top, but it's sanctioned under wildlife protection.

Oil shale and or Tar sands are not consumable oil as we know it. They are a chemical precursor which requires additional processing after recovery before it can go to a traditional refinery. When all is said and done, you are lucky to get two units of energy for one unit spent in production. Where is that energy going to come from?

Canada is running headlong into this conundrum. Basically they are trading natural gas for what becomes of tar sands because there is a much greater market for black goop. This is not a long term energy strategy.

Then there is the actual process by which goop is distilled. It requires a whopping amount of water and leaves behind an ocean of toxic sludge.

There is no advantage to developing them.

Even so, we DO produce more of our own oil than we import from any one source and certainly more than we import from the Middle East as so many claim that's the only reason we are there.

Studies of the ANWR coastal plain indicate it may contain between 6 and 16 billion barrels of recoverable oil (between 11.6 and 31.5 billion barrels in-place). With enhanced recovery technology, ANWR oil could provide an additional 30 to 50 years of reliable supply. Natural gas, produced with the oil, could be reinjected or added to a new gas pipeline originating in Prudhoe Bay.

I really think Obama wants MORE wealth transferred to the Middle East for oil.

It's already the greatest transfer of wealth in the world in history.


He wants to redistributwe our oil buying money to his Muslim Brotherhood homies.

We don't have Illuminati in Alabama, and some folks don't like you to see their whole faces on here. When I had a picture of myself, for instance, I wore sunglasses. I was in a frat in college, but it was mostly about beer and girls. We only plotted world domination on Tuesday nights.

They use natural gas released from the processing of the tar sands. If we didn't process the sands, we would not have access to the gas, so it's kind of a moot point.
