Bad advice.

Buy an older model Jeep Cherokee 1993-2001. 2wd if you're basically doing highway and city miles or 4x4 for offroad. Tuned up and running right they get about 18-20 mpg. The 6 cylinder engine is practically bulletproof if it's maintained.

Do NOT buy from craigslist/ ebay/ ect...ect ..you would ne shocked how many ppl DONT know its a scam!!!

I would pick a Honda. The japs never fails. Try a Civic or Accord. Good luck.

If you are set on a car and not a truck, you can get a very reliable Camry or Corolla that will run forever if you take care of it and it has no major problems to begin with.

Or you can get a Civic or an Accord that will also run forever.

Want something fast and reliable? Look at 2002 and older Nissan Maximas...you will be surprised at the performance.


But I suggest a truck. It provides transportation and can be used as a work vehicle. In which case I recommend a Toyota Tacoma or a Nissan Frontier. Great reliability. The Toyota will be more expensive because it is rock solid.

If you buy from a dealer, you are just paying extra for everyone involved in the transaction to make money. Waste of money.

my advice to you is buy a truck, but it's hard to find a good used truck, they are usually beat to hell.

The above used to be true when Japanese autos were really made in Japan. With manufaturing taking place elsewhere, quality has suffered. Most Fords are as good or better than an American Camry.

Get a bunch of money from student loans and put a down payment on a hummer, spend the rest on rims, new iphone, and a system.

Foolproof plan.

Buy a small 4 cyl pickup. Equip it with extra deep cycle marine batteries and both a small solar cell (+/-) 300watt trickle charger. Combine that with a 800 watt AC power inverter and a propane heat soarce. These can be installed in a high profile camper top. throw in a nice memory foam mattress, a cooler, camp stove, SW radio,.308 cal rifle, fishing rig, a few tools and a plan. You are now ready for what may come your way. Remember also, the more you have in your head , the less you will need to take along. ;)

Get a 92-95 2 Door Honda Civic hatchback that has less than 200,000 miles on it that's in good running order and has been well looked after (for example, had it's oil changed every 3,000 miles). Buy private, not from a dealer. You should be able to buy one of these cars for less than half what you have. Save $1,000 to $2,000 for repairs and maintenance after you buy it. After that you should be good to go for several years only paying for gas and oil changes every 3,000 miles. Get an old GEO Metro that gets 50 miles to the gallon without having to be a hybrid. Invest the rest in gold and silver.

Get a GMC of some sort they have good heaters, hardly any repairs, and go 200,000 plus miles if you keep changing oil etc!

Don't buy an old American car, because it will cost you more in repairs than owning an old Japanese car. Subarus and Mercedes are not worth their higher selling price, and also are a lot more costly to repair (which will be practically guaranteed on any used car) than Honda or Toyota.

These cost too much on gas. Honda is much better.

Get a boring beater and drive it until you have enough for the sports car you really want.

do not spend your maximum amount on a used car...

Go to a dealer that is well known...

Do not by a sports car or a red or black car...

BUY a 4 DOOR can not stress that enough...

cause 2 doors look kool but cost more and your friends getting in and out will not be a pain in the ass..

the money you don;t spend you can use to make repairs when they come up and they will come up...
