OR, I'll try out one of those new fangled e-cigs, start at my current level (a two pack a day person would probably start at 36), and gradually taper over two week periods. 36>24>16>11>6>>>>>>>>>> 0... wow, imagine that, ZERO!!! then you put it away, and you no longer smoke... | Anonymous Coward User ID: 15071850 12/01/2012 02:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Try an ecig- I stopped no problem. The ones in the convenience and tobacco stores are kinda crappy tho so I recommend trying a menthol one first. Nine has a good disposable one. If it's something you like you can go online to Electronic Cig Forum or ECF for tons of info. I have one that you can change the voltage instead of filters I prefer to use little tanks you add ejuice. I make and buy flavored juices and fill my own instead of filters (cartomizers.) Right now I'm vaping Captain Crunch!! The juice is made from vegetable glycol (glycerin) and polypropolene glycol (used in inhalers and they swapped it into antifreeze to stop poisoning) I was a Marlboro or nothing girl and haven't smoked in months. Best units that are reasonable are Ego manual so you push a button when you take a hit. Gives you a better hit. If you really want the ritual of realistic smoking (good way to start) try Volt (good product but I'm mad at them for service issues.), Bullsmoke or Bloog. Bloog is inexepensive for a good product. The clearomizer tanks are awesome instead of filters. It kinda turns into a hobby which keeps your mind off regular cigs (called analogs in the ecig world.) Cheaper and better than taking those pills!! Good Luck!! |

I'm a fool and whatever else you want to say, but the fact is that I quit for six months with the help of nicotine patches and some other no-smoking things and lollipops. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27270668 When my insurance refused to pay for the patches any longer, (which was unknown to me till it happened), I was ok for about two weeks and then I started smoking again. Now I really want to quit again. I was never able to quit before and even though I did get some more patches, it did not work this time. I am seeing my doctor next week and she is willing to write me a script for Chantix or Wellbutrin. I have never taken an anti-depressant in my life and I worry about the black-box warnings, AND any kind of permanent damage or change. I'm terrified of messing with my serotonin for some reason, but mostly any permanent damage. I am a woman, and from what I have read, men can be permanently damaged by anti-depressants, (erectile dysfunction permanent), but I wonder if it can do that to a man, it must be dangerous? So at this point-I am ready to try it, but I really would like to know what kind of permanent risks am I taking? Read an article that said the the current regime let Chantix them get away with false testing. Which might explain why some, not all of their ads slipped in "Obama support" in place of along with support which was used in others. These were done with a hispanic woman. Not all but some. Since the election they have not used the Obama support one. At first I thought I was hearing wrong and never mentioned it to anyone. One day the ad ran and I asked my husband what the woman had said. He replied "Obama support". To be sure those ads are all gone, but I am sure that is what happened. So said all that to say this. Can you trust a cheat? Behind every myth lies a mystery, and every legend holds an echo of the truth …… anonimalle " At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. Guide to stop smoking: Step 1: go on internet to vapor4life.com Step 2: purchase Vapor titan kit with a couple of bottles of liquid (descending strengths) to go along with it, plus, an extra pack or two of carts. Step 3: Gradually step down the mg scale, replenishing carts as you need them with lower strengths of liquid (you buy the liquid, when the cart tastes funny on the VERY FIRST HIT, you load it with 12-15 drops of liquid and let sit over night) Step 4: Profit or, you don't smoke any more and don't even feel the pain... |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 27270668 12/01/2012 02:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Funny that someone mentioned tootsie pops. They helped me a LOT and they tasted so great when I didn't smoke. I have an e-cig but I keep buying that , "last pack"-I swear these things make people stupid. I've already lost my sense of taste that I had gained back, but at least I know i have that to look forward-to. Thank-you to everyone who reminded me of why I really don't want to use Chantix. I have seen someone under the influence of ambien that they took as a sleeping pill, and that scared the heck out of me-they had amnesia afterwards. I was more concerned about the long-term effects, but the short-term seems pretty risky. I'm more ready to buckle-down and just quit again and I do think that mild nausea is a good no smoking device for me. I may have to overdose myself with the patch to get there, but I want to be a non-smoker soon. |

I have saved Alan Carr's book and only read the first half. I hope it will help too. I'll use the ecig that I have for emergency. Tobacco tablets. The patch. Lollipops, water-ice, and maybe some sleeping pills and that just might get me over the hump. |

I haven't smoked a cigarette in two years, and the smell grosses me out. I don't mind vaping at 11, it's not like I'm killing myself with it, it's vegetable glycerin for shits sake |

Just stop smoking, the first 3 days were tough but it got easier and easier. I think the key is wanting to quit and having the mind set that you are no longer a smoker. |
| Ralph--a house dog User ID: 25802009 12/01/2012 07:14 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You should try hypnosis. It does work, but you might have to go back for one or two more sessions after the first time. My experience with it was a little odd. The session went fine and was very relaxing. But I just had to be a smart ass and wanted to find out what would happen if I smoked a cigarette even though I didn't really want one. So I lit up in the car on the way home and took a deep drag. About ten minutes later I was turning into my driveway and looked down at a crushed out barely smoked cigarette in the ashtray. I had no memory whatsoever of having put it out or of anything else about driving home. Scared the hell out of me and I didn't want to even touch touch a cig anymore. For about 3 weeks. Went back for another session then another one after a month. During this time I had my teeth cleaned and that made me feel good to know they would stay that way longer. I kept lots of mints and lemon drops handy and I think that helped too. Avoiding other smokers for a while is also helpful. My insurance paid for part of the therapist's fee as he was a licensed psychologist. Last Edited by Ralph--a house dog on 12/01/2012 07:18 AM "Who decides?" ---Robert A. My friend's parents were life-long smokers and they quit after one session as well. Try that or other suggestions here first.
