A lot of the older people think that bullying is still one disturbed child who occasionally calls his victim "four eyes" or "dork." This isn't the 1950s anymore.

I also see people advocating "manning up." Sure, if it were a single bully, you may as well try standing up to him. But what if it's a whole group of bullies? Would you try fighting in a five on one situation? I doubt it. But, if you are "manly" enough to take on those odds, then you are probably the type that was too "manly" to fight in trenches during the time of muskets.

Someone also posted about people that were bullied and became successful. Well, those people didn't become successful because they were bullied. Those individuals became successful in spite of being bullied. As someone who was bullied heavily for over five years by a large group of morons, I can personally say it has been nothing but a detriment. Unless you've been bullied, you have no idea the psychological impact it can have on someone. I'd say it's akin to soldiers coming home with PTSD, seeing as how the results are the same: homicide, suicide, depression. I guess those soldiers who killed themselves were just pussies, though, and should have manned up.

No one cares about students who get bullied, at least no one in a position to do anything about it. Teachers and administrators prefer the ostrich technique when confronted with problems and firmly plant their heads up their asses, so they see and hear nothing. Some will say the victims should take matters into their own hands, but children aren't always mentally or physically capable of handling their own problems. Children are not adults. The neanderthals will blame the bully victim for being a pussy, the liberals will plead "make a law to ban bullying," and the religious folk will conveniently scapegoat rock music. Unfortunately, many more children will die as a result of bullying.

The solution is simple, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. However, that's too much to ask from people. Expect plenty more events like this and Columbine in the future.

There is a poster before you that got the shit beat out of him for having a hairlip. Guess what. Him, I feel sorry for, because that is fucked up to pick on kids with a physical deformity.
