Re: Challenge Question of the Week
Mechanical = CERN

Reality = Me and Hector the talking tea pot.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28843966

The European Organization for Nuclear Research (French: Organisation européenne pour la recherche nucléaire), known as CERN or Cern (; French pronunciation: see History) is an international organization whose purpose is to operate the world's largest particle physics laboratory. Established in 1954, the organization is based in the northwest suburbs of Geneva on the Franco–Swiss border, and has 20 European member states.

The term CERN is also used to refer to the laboratory, which employs just under 2,400 full-time employees, 1,500 part-time employees, and hosts some 10,000 visiting scientists and engineers, representing 608 universities and research facilities and 113 nationalities.

CERN's main function is to provide the particle accelerators and other infrastructure needed for high-energy physics research - as a result, numerous experiments have been constructed at CERN following international collaborations. It is also the birthplace of the World Wide Web. The main site at Meyrin has a large computer centre containing powerful data-processing facilities, primarily for experimental data analysis; because of the need to make these facilities available to researchers elsewhere, it has historically been a major wide area networking hub.

 Quoting: Wikipedia

There are some good qualities here beyond just the mechanical understanding that CERN aims to understand better. I think at the front of those good qualities is the tremendous amount of teamwork it takes to run such a facility. And the fact the the Internet was born out of CERN sorta gives that flavor of cooperative organization and how it has effected the entire planet. CERN is a very popular and viable group of individuals no doubt, but are they on the right track as far as the accuracy of the understandings that they lend to the populace in regards to what constitutes 'reality'?

What's Hector favorite tea? : )

The Doctor (there's an infinite number of him so it's a group tounge)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28826555

The Doctor is a title character and the protagonist of the long-running BBC television science fiction series Doctor Who, and has also featured in two cinema feature films and one made-for-television movie, as well as a vast range of spin-off novels, audio dramas and comic strips connected to the series.

To date, eleven actors have played the role in the television series, with continuity being maintained by the ability of the character's species to regenerate. Several other actors have played the character on stage and film, in audio dramas, and in occasional special episodes of the series. The character's enduring popularity led the Daily Telegraph to dub him "Britain's favourite alien". The Doctor, in his eleventh incarnation, is currently played by Matt Smith, who took on the role in January 2010 and became the first Doctor to be nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2011.

 Quoting: Wikipedia

You mean this guy(s)? scratching

Growing up I had a couple of friends who moved here from England and they would always watch Dr. Who after school. I think the show itself was unlike anything that was available at the time with the closest thing maybe being 'Land of the Lost' in terms of being uniquely imaginative in its creation and premise. It definitely had an impact on my young and impressionable mind. thumbs

The concept of the story, anyways.

We look human, but who we are inside is much different, much older, far more experienced.

We live in a multilayered, multiparalleled, multidimensional multiverse, and there's an infinite number of each one of us spread across each possible reality. And when you die, another you is reincarnated shortly afterwards...it is still you inside, while a different person as well.

The Beatles.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15054427

Why not?

In terms of sharing meaning through artistry, who else has had a bigger impact on the footprint of how that is accomplished than the Fab Four? Music had become the most popular from of artistry in the 20th century and I think that is still the case today. So I don't think that it's any coincidence, that these guys challenged Jesus is terms of popularity. But I don't see it as a better than this or that kind of thing as it was portrayed in the media back in the '60's. To me the rise of the Beatles is more of a complimentary reprisal of the rise of Jesus. : )

I like him a lot more now.

Ah, very true...I blanked on that piece of information there...
I'm ambivalent enough about which pieces of information to believe, so I would have to say that I am a pick-and-chooser when it comes to 'authoritative' groups and who I believe.

I would say that there is a fairly large library of info here on GLP, with enough flavors of crazy for everyone...so I would have to agree with whomever posted GLP.

Though most of that is from a personal perspective, because the global (and beyond) has become very hard to keep track of and getting any kind of orientation as to where things are leading to is anyone's guess at this point. Although things in my personal life seem to be reflecting some of the larger issues out there...like giving up a higher paying job to take on one that pays less but offers more happiness. That's what's on the docket going into the New Year, I'm hoping.

What is 'millennium twain' if you don't mind me asking?

On the universe part.....I would have to say the group on Thunderbolts :)

I like them too Blue and I made them the centerpiece of Part IV of my "Bowman Does Facebook Summer 2012 Tour". chuckle

The reason why I chose them is because I felt that they would be perceived as the least threatening and most interesting 'group' to pick in offering up a new way to see things.

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson claims the title "scientist" above all other "ists." And yet, he says he is "constantly claimed by atheists." So where does he stand? "Neil deGrasse, widely claimed by atheists, is actually an agnostic."

Thread: GOOD VIDEO CLIP-Neil deGrasse Tyson: Atheist or Agnostic?

Name a group (any 2 or more individuals) who shares the most accurate and honest description of reality and life in this universe.

You know, I really didn't take to this guy at first because I initially felt that he was sorta riding Sagan's coattails in his whole approach. He seemed to mimic him too much. But he is just one guy so although he would not be qualified as an answer to the threads question, I did enjoy the video above where he explains about his independent way of thinking.

Re: Challenge Question of the Week
hey bowman

there is the thought to prompt nassim harim and marko rodin to talk to each other
thinking from there rupert sheldrake has joined dave talbot and wal thornhill as dan winter did

include bruce lipton and through 2013 it may be that all 7 discover what they possess in common

which i believe will be of interest to everyone

and thinking about it i know that /\ combination will spark up millenium twain

all bets are off

 Quoting: aether

Well, I have some good feelings about 2013 as well aether.

Jane Roberts & SETH
 Quoting: ElusivePisces 11156436

Jane Roberts (May 8, 1929 – September 5, 1984) was an American author, poet, psychic and spirit medium, who said she had "channeled" a personality who called himself "Seth". Her publication of the Seth texts, known as the "Seth Material", established her as one of the preeminent figures in the world of paranormal phenomena. The Yale University Library Manuscripts and Archives maintains a collection entitled Jane Roberts Papers (MS 1090), which documents the career and personal life of Jane Roberts, including journals, poetry, correspondence, audio and video recordings and other materials donated after her death by Roberts' husband and other individuals and organizations.
