That's because there's massive propaganda against Mexico, so most people don't really know what's going on in Mexico, especially in the US. Even those close to the southern border don't know squat about what's going in Mexico. They know more what's going on in Canada than there is in Mexico, even though there are tons of reporters in Mexico from the US and Mexicans. There's even more propaganda going ever since Mexico is growing economically and is becoming quite competitive against the US.

We mexicans have a historical debt. Back in 1968 the party in the power, the same that has the power today PRI murdered hundreds of people and the society did nothing to stop the system.
