You've got yourself a Counselor, who is someone who gives advice and stuff

You've got yourself a Comforter, who is someone who tries to make you feel better after terrible events

How is that the same thing?

"The Greek word for Comforter is “parakletos”. The most familiar translation of this Greek word is “Comforter,” but a better translation is Counselor or Advocate, as in a legal sense. However, I will use Comforter since it is the most familiar translation."

I posted a verse which used the word suggested "Counselor"

Below are the New Testament texts concerning the Comforter.

JOHN 14:15-17: "If you love me you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever - the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you."

JOHN 14:25, 26: "All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

JOHN 15:26: "When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me."

JOHN 16:7,8: "But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment...."

JOHN 16:13-15: "But when he, the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it know to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you."

Excuse me, but it does say this:

Jesus said to the apostles, "These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."

Re: What do Christians make of this verse ... When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father ...
From the GNB or Good News Bible - everyday english

"I have told you this while I am still with you. The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you.
(Joh 14:25-26)

From the commentary of John Gill

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,.... Before spoken of, Joh_14:16, for whom Christ promised to pray the Father that he might be given to them. The word used there, as here, signifies an "advocate", and is so rendered, 1Jo_2:1, a patron, one that pleads and defends, the cause of another, before kings and princes; so the Jewish writers (z) use the word פרקליט, the same with παρακλητος, here, and give this as the sense of it: and which agrees well enough with the work and office of the Spirit of God, who has promised to the apostles to speak in them and for them, when they should be brought before kings and governors for Christ's sake; and would so thoroughly plead his cause and theirs, as to convince the world of sin, righteousness and judgment; and who acts the part of an intercessor, or advocate, for private believers, in prayer to the King of kings: but inasmuch as it also signifies a "comforter", and this being agreeably to the present condition of the apostles, as before observed; it may be most proper to retain that sense of it here, who is explained to be the Holy Ghost; which is a more clear and explicit account of him than before, and very distinctly points out the third person in the Trinity, who is in his nature holy, equally with the Father and Son, and the author of holiness in all the saints:

whom the Father will send in my name. The mission of the Spirit is here ascribed to the Father, but not to the exclusion of the Son, who is also said to send him, Joh_15:26, which was not so proper to be mentioned here, because he speaks of his being sent, "in his name"; that is, at his request, through his mediation and intercession, in his room and stead, acting, the same part, and bearing the same flame of an advocate or comforter, and for the glory and honour of his name: which act of sending does not suppose any local motion, which cannot agree with an infinite and immense spirit; nor inferiority in him to the other two persons, since he who is sent by Christ, and in his name, is also the sender of Christ; but it denotes the joint consent and agreement of Father, Son, and Spirit, in this affair:

he shall teach you all things: this is the proper work and business of the Spirit, to teach, interpret, and explain all things which Christ had said to them; to make them more plain and easy to their understandings; to instruct them in all things necessary to salvation, and to be known by them, that they might teach them others:

and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said to you; which through inattention, or want of understanding in them, had slipped their minds, and were forgotten by them. This accounts for it, how the evangelists some years after the death of Christ; at different times and places, and without consulting each other, could commit to writing the life, actions, sayings, and sermons of Christ, with all the minute circumstances attending them.

Excuse me, again, but I must tell you that the "English translation" of the KJV is full of "grave defects". The complexities of the defects were caused, in part, by the KJV being "...based upon a Greek text that was marred by mistakes, containing the accumulated errors of fourteen centuries of manuscript copying." (Preface, RSV, 1952) Specifically, the "Greek text" referred to here was the New Testament version as edited by "Erasmus" in the years 1516 to 1535, and by "Beza" in 1589,. Also, there were changes in the meanings of English words after 1611 that changed the meanings of scriptures, which has mislead readers. "There are more than three hundred words which are used in the King James Version in a sense substantially different from that which they now convey." (Preface, RSV, 1952) For instance, in the book of Revelation the words "he" and "him" were used in place of the original words "it" or "its" in Revelation 13. This makes a great deal of difference in the reader's understanding of what the writer of this scripture was trying to convey! I think that this was done purposefully by those who are involved in creating a deception.

Re: What do Christians make of this verse ... When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father ...
The Holy Spirit, One of the Triune of God that comes to live within you. The Comforter, Teacher whom Jesus promised all who accept His sacrifice. He is who testifies about the son of God from within you, He is the wisdom through whom we gain the knowledge and understanding of God and the purpose of Christ and eternal life.

It is to this Spirit of Truth, to whom one blasphemes when they do not believe, for then they are calling Him a liar; this cannot be forgiven, for if one does not believe, then this lack of faith is what condemns them because Christ's blood cannot cover the sins of one who does not accept, believe or is grateful.

God cannot give a gift to any who refuse it, and allows the free will of mankind to do so, but if one desires and is willing to know, then the Holy Spirit will reveal God's truth.

This of course, to those who believe, otherwise you know the drill.

How does that work whith The N-----y?....or two witnesses?

Is Gerald Sosbee one of two witnesses?
