No offence meant, it's just that this sort of stuff is usually covered in such classes heh Quoting: Anonymous Coward 904314 Well, enlighten us! The oldest such minerals analyzed to date – small crystals of zircon from the Jack Hills of Western Australia – are at least 4.404 billion years old. Comparing the mass and luminosity of the Sun to the magnitudes of other stars, it appears that the solar system cannot be much older than those rocks. Ca-Al-rich inclusions (inclusions rich in calcium and aluminium) – the oldest known solid constituents within meteorites that are formed within the solar system – are 4.567 billion years old, giving an age for the solar system and an upper limit for the age of Earth. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24179936 They put so much faith into it, it's almost like religion. Well in the case of radioactive dating they explored their world until they figured out that certain things take certain amounts of time to happen, invariably, and then they looked at how long something is along it's process and determine roughly how old it is based on that.. Like looking at a kid growing up, you can guesstimate their age based on how they look because you know how a kid should generally look at certain ages heh |

But the amount of time it takes for these certain things to happen is dependent on the enviroment, which tends to change over time. Alot can happen in billions of years! I just think it is ridiculous to put so much faith in carbon dating and all that. |

And how are you so sure this isn't false? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28531621 Are you friggin retarded? Do you have any idea how much damage simple water does? how about wind? Look at the grand canyon... that was created by simple water flow over a huge amount of time. The pyramids are only a few THOUSAND years old... and they're crumbling (slowly yes and remaining very well, but still crumbling)... And you want to see proof of shit from MILLIONS if not BILLIONS of years old? Holy shit just unplug the computer and go read a basic science book. |

Radiocarbon dating failures [link to creation.com] Also this zircon is said to be an igneous like granite from the 'big bang' theory of a cooling down earth over bazzillions of years, yet this has been debunked by publish findings of 218po halos found, having a half life of less than three minutes; meaning it formed almost instantly, as the Bible says. Not as big bangism claims. [link to www.halos.com] [link to www.youtube.com] |
