Too bad. Spend the time he has left doing bucket list stuff. Friends dad had it and he lasted about 6 months after diagnosis. Could be chemtrail related or BP oil spill or Fukashima related and on and on. Agent orange was too long ago.

Re: My dad just told me he has leukemia
do research into alternative healing and curing methods

mainstream will not help much and try to take lots of money

time is important, dont waste it, use it now

learn what you can and try to use it to help him

I would say look into

no sugar diets
organic diets
PH balance in body
baking soda cure? may be dangerous
and vitamin supplements

Lots of interesting stuff

Supplements and herbs for leukemia
Research regarding the use of supplements to prevent or treat leukemia is at its infancy, hence no confident statements can be made. My intent is to mention a few that have been studied.

Mangosteen herb has potent compounds known as xanthones.
Induction of apoptosis by xanthones from mangosteen in human leukemia cell lines.
J Nat Prod. 2003.
We examined the effects of six xanthones from the pericarps of mangosteen, Garcinia mangostana, on the cell growth inhibition of human leukemia cell line HL60. All xanthones displayed growth inhibitory effects, especially alpha-mangostin.

Antioxidants --Children being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia seem more able to deal with their treatment if their levels of antioxidants don't drop too much. Kids with leukemia do not take enough antioxidants, which raises their risk of side effects during chemotherapy. Chemotherapy produces changes that stress the body's antioxidant defense system. Therefore, it's important that the diets of cancer patients contain adequate amounts of antioxidants. In a 6-month study, the researchers examined antioxidant intake and chemotherapy side effects in 103 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common cancer in kids. During the study period subjects ingested vitamin E, total carotenoids, beta-carotene, and vitamin A in amounts that were 66, 30, 59, and 29 percent, respectively, of the US recommended dietary allowance. Greater intake of vitamin C was associated with fewer therapy delays, less side effects, and fewer days spent in the hospital. Similarly, the risk of infection and side effects decreased as vitamin E and beta-carotene intake increased.

Flavonoids found in vegetables
Bilberry has been studied
Curcumin could be of benefit.
Green Tea - See study below, EGCG is found in high concentration in green tea
Indole-3-carbinol is found in cabbage, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts.
Lycium berry is also known as wolfberry and goji berry
Parthenolide, a compound found in feverfew, has been tested against chronic myelogenous leukemia.
Rosemary extracts have been found to be helpful.
Berberine in Coptis Chinensis herb

Cordyceps and leukemia
Cordyceps sinensis mycelium extract induces human premyelocytic leukemia cell apoptosis through mitochondrion pathway.
Exp Biol Med. 2007.
This study was to identify the signaling pathways for the induction of HL-60 cell apoptosis by Cordyceps sinensis mycelium extract. Cordyceps extract at 25 mug/ml induced nuclear fragmentation and DNA degradation, two hallmark events of apoptosis, in the HL-60 cells within 12-24 hrs of treatment.

Q. I suffer form chronic myelogenous leukemia CML an I am doing well on Imatinib, known by the product name Gleevec. Nevertheless I try to support my illness with some herbs and your site which I came over just with recently is one of the best. My blood count shows good results with a combination of feverfew, curcumin and black pepper. Recently I learned about cordyceps mushroom and the good influence on leukemia Now I was considering to start using this. According to a Chinese research team in can boost up natural killer cells activity in leukemia patients to 400 percent. According to a Sloan Kettering however cordyceps shows proliferation of progenitor red blood cells and therefore should not be used in myelogeous cancers. Being impressed with your expertise I would be very happy to know your opinion.
A. It is very difficult to extrapolate from in vitro lab studies to what would occur if a cordyceps supplement was taken orally. Also, the effects may be influenced by the type of cordyceps extract and the dosage used. There won't be easy answers until actual cordyceps studies are done in humans on different types of leukemia. Also, it is difficult to predict the influence of a cordyceps supplement when used in combination with medications and other supplements.

Green tea and Leukemia
Doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, found that of four patients who started drinking green tea or taking green tea extracts, three showed clear improvements in their condition in the following months. The patients all had chronic lymphocytic leukemia, or CLL, a form of leukemia that usually arises during or after middle-age and typically progresses slowly. Like all types of leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, in which abnormal white blood cells replace healthy blood cells. What's particularly interesting about these four cases, according to Dr. Tait Shanafelt, is that the patients all started using green tea on their own, after hearing media reports about a lab study Shanafelt and his colleagues conducted. That study showed that one compound found in green tea, known as EGCG, was able to kill cancer cells that were taken from chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients and put in a test tube with the tea compound. After the findings were published, the doctors became aware of four chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients at their center who had started using green tea products and seemed to be doing better. In interviewing the patients and reviewing their records, the doctors found that three showed signs of a regression in their cancer after they started to drink green tea or take green tea capsules. The fourth had an improvement in her white blood cell count, though her disease remained unchanged by standard criteria. In one case, the patient had been showing progressive swelling in her lymph nodes - one of the characteristics of chronic lymphocytic leukemia - before she starting taking green tea capsules twice a day. Over the next year, her lymph nodes steadily decreased in size. These cases alone cannot prove that green tea or its extracts conferred the benefits. An answer to that question, he said, awaits the outcome of an ongoing clinical trial he is leading. The study, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, is testing the effects of a purified EGCG extract in treating chronic lymphocytic leukemia. SOURCE: Leukemia Research, online December 1, 2005.

Vitamin C is the most used supplement in the world. There is good reason for this as the science behind the many benefits of vitamin C is solid. Dr. Svent Gyorgi and Dr. Linus Pauling performed innumerable experiments proving that man, unlike most animals, is dependent upon vitamin C for a healthy existence. For decades we have relied upon various ascorbic formulas for our supplemental needs, but now a whole new vista opens up with Liposomal technology.

Increase Absorption Dramatically - Regular vitamin C is absorbed at approximately 19%, the balance remains in the gastrointestinal tract to attract water and loosen the bowels. Nanotechnology, liposomalized vitamin C is absorbed at 93%, measurable in the blood stream. A 390% increase in absorption! Get IV results with oral dosage!

Heat one cup of distilled water in a ceramic coated or stainless steel pan on your stove (do not heat it in a microwave oven) until almost boiling.
Pour the water into your blender and add three level tablespoons of lecithin and blend until all of the lecithin is totally dissolved in the water.
In one cup of cold distilled water, dissolve one level tablespoon of ascorbic acid. Make sure it is totally dissolved, very important!
Add the ascorbic acid mixture to the lecithin mixture and blend well.

I buy non-gmo Lecithin from Now products and pure vit c powder. Together they cost like 20 some odd bucks. The lecithin is like a waxy polysaccharide from soy, that has its own benefits. So i put a few tablespoons of the lecithin in boiling water, at the same time in cold distilled water i dissolve a tablespoon of vit c powder. Then the 2 fluids go in a blender for about 5 mins.

After that, the mixture goes into an ultrasonic jewellery cleaner i purchased new for about 25 bucks. The action of the ultrasonic basically allows the lecithin to coat the vit c. I sonically treat it for 30 minutes and end up w about 2 cups worth. I take 1.5 tablespoons 2 times a day so the 2 cups is about 2-3 weeks worth.

Tastes like sour milk, but not as bad. More like lemon juice mixed w cream. I chase w a glass of water

Pour the mixture into the ultrasonic cleaner and turn it on. Stir frequently.
The cleaner will turn itself off about every two minutes or so. You continue to
stir frequently and turn the cleaner back on until ALL of the foam is gone.
Repeat: Continue to stir and turn the cleaner back on until ALL OF THE FOAM IS
GONE!! This will take about 30 minutes or so. When done you will have a mix that
is about the color of milk. There will be some settling but shouldn't be much,
less than 5% of the mix or so.

When done, pour mix into a reseal able GLASS jar and store in your refrigerator.

Take one teaspoon full of mix once a day.

You can experiment with this amount after you have taken it for awhile to see
how it effects you.

Take on an empty stomach and wait at least 15 minutes before eating anything.

Many take it in the morning before breakfast.

It is really sour tasting so many chase it with water to get the taste out of
the mouth.

It would be very difficult to overdose on Vitamin C. I have had 4 days in a row 80 GRAMS of IV Sodium Ascorbate which is the IV form of Vitamin C. It was nothing short of miraculous. The problem I was taking it for disappeared and as a side benefit my vision when I awoke on the morning of the 4th day was amazing and a cataract in my right eye was gone. That was about 3 years ago and no recurrence of any of the problems.

I am for sure going to make the liposomal C and take it every day.

_________________________________________________________________

You can overdose on C, but the effects of an overdose are generally limited to nausea and diarrhea. There are other potential problems with supplementing C, though. Vitamin C does a great job of protecting human cells. The bad news is that it works just as well at protecting cancer cells. It can reduce the effectiveness of chemotherapy or other anti-cancer agents.
And if you like shellfish, including shrimp, it's probably a good idea to stay away from C supplementation. Ascorbic acid acts chemically on the non-toxic arsenic pentoxide (ArO5) naturally found in such seafood, turning it into arsenic trioxide (ArO3) which is the stuff that can kill you.

A bit off-topic...The one thing that has truly worked for me in a big way is apple cider vinegar. One tablespoon twice a day in 4-5 oz of water. I'm 55, and have had many injuries from working heavy construction, motorcycle accidents and other mishaps, various & sundry.
The acv has all but cured arthritis in my fingers, knees and hips!

Sorry to hear it friend - sending love and positive vibrations in your family's direction.

I read an article years ago about how this lady went into remission from cancer by drinking a lot of green tea alongside her treatment; not sure if there's anything in that, but thought I'd put it out there.

Take care.

It was this time in '97 my parents called me and told me my dad had pancreatic cancer.
I made a quick trip home from Belgium for Christmas.
It was the last we spent together.

Not sure if you have children or he has grandchildren, but one of the things I have told anyone who has found out their parents have cancer is to have them read books into a camera and record it. Or have them tell family stories.
My oldest was born, but she doesn't remember him and none of our other children knew him.

I hope he has a better outcome, but enjoy every moment you can with him.

Re: My dad just told me he has leukemia
You've heard it already on lots of these replies, but I'll add my experience with my mom, who is now 81. When she was diagnosed with a huge colon cancer the doctors called me and told me she had between 3 months and 3 years, depending on how well she tolerated treatments.
I'd read that excellent nutrition helped people feel better through chemo/radiation, and we started her on a top quality LIQUID vitamin supplement. She cut out almost all sugars. Ate really well.

The cancer metastisized to her lung and liver. She had those radiated. Stayed on her exceptional diet and really enjoyed eating that way. She had more energy and looked like she was 10 years younger.

She is now completely cancer free. Doctors couldn't believe it. We couldn't believe it when they were selling her cases of Ensure to help keep her weight up. That stuff is loaded with sugar. Don't believe doctors know it all. They sure as hell don't.

Best of luck with everything. My first husband was diagnosed with lung cancer, undoubtedly from his agent orange in Vietnam, also. He chose to not be treated. Six years later, he's doing fine. (He will not go to doctors, but he does go to work and to the bars!)

Best of everything to you. The diet my mom used was the Furhman diet. The guy on PBS.

OP, your father likely qualifies for valuable medical and monetary compensation from the VA, being that certain leukemias are a presumptive illness as it regards AO exposure. Check with a state veterans officer or a veterans service organization, who handles these paperworks for free. I lost my father to it after he fought it for nearly ten years. Best wishes to you and yours my friend
