Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5637281 Or is that older cars? That is for cars older than 1996 equipped with OBDI or something similar. 1996 and newer cars don't do that...thank god, I hated counting the flashes. i believe it needs a jumper wire to be present in the obd 1 plug also but i may be wrong. Yes, you have to jump the plug....thats the easy part. I'm a lead tech so I always get distracted while trying to count out a long one..Lol. indeed those suck... someone will always break your thought process and then you have to start all over lol Wherever you go,there you are. Don't buy anything based solely on the codes....they may have been caused by something else and you may spend money unnecessarily. If you were closer you could swing by. LOL. My engine light came on 4 days ago,had the auto zone guy pull the codes.... circuit condition or idle speed higher/lower than expected Explanation: The ECM has detected that the IAC counts higher/lower than expected.the engine speed is not in its expected range. Probable cause: Vacume leak on engine dirty throttle body IAC motor defective Poor electrical connection to the IAC valve 2002 dodge ram 1500 quad 5.9 Help please Rpms jump while idle and driving acts like its not getting power/enough air, sluggish. Texas sounds like a vacuum leak.... to check yourself get a can of brakeclean and with the engine running rough at idle lift the hood and spray a little brakeclean around all the various vacuum lines you see. if you notice the engines idle change or smooth out just for a second then that may be where you leak is. The P0505 indicates a malfunction in the circuit for the IAC. I gave him the test to perform, all he needs is a test light. It is likely the IAC (Idle Control Valve), its wiring, or the PCM (the computer - which are known to fail on Dodge trucks.) TO THE DODGE OWNER: The last customer I sent to the dealer had a 1997 Ram in need of a PCM. They made a 50% goodwill adjustment as it is a known problem....worth a shot. i know nothing about dodges personally so you are probably right. i know mostly fords and they seem to always leak something lol Wherever you go,there you are.
