You will pay a lot more for a moisanite than a CZ but still save money when comparing it to the cost of a diamond. Last Edited by CuriousMe on 12/01/2012 11:36 PM |

If she gets it appraised and is upset about it not being a Diamond, I figure that is a sign she might be a gold digger. I was just going to not represent anything at all. Quoting: CuriousMe A better substitute is a moisanite which sparkles more than a diamond and is harder than a CZ. You will lay a lot more for a moisanite than a CZ but still save money when comparing it to then cost of a diamond. Is it less expensive than manufactured diamond? |
UnmannedAerialPilot User ID: 27573455 United States 12/01/2012 11:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | CZ is more brilliant than Diamond and looks better as far as I'm concerned. Plus it would only be $50.00 Quoting: Cheap Chalupa 754169 Should I just buy it and see if she values me for me instead of my money? Wouldn't it work the same way in reverse? Your entire mentality is that you do not trust her and value her love to be about $50. Get a grip man, do you really think this is the right choice?! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 20566260 United States 12/01/2012 11:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are going to spend the rest of your life with her....she is not worth a real diamond to you? Granted, if you can't afford it, go small....but don't be deceitful. I also on the other hand think its ridiculous for women to get huge rocks. I think it's better if you start small, then every 5 years replace the stone with a bigger one......so by the time you're married 40 years you earned that huge rock!!! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 7570540 United States 12/01/2012 11:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A $50 ring would probably be of softer metal that would wear out quickly or turn her finger green. I've seen some really nice looking CZ set in decent settings - you can always come back and buy the diamond later. But, discuss it with her first. |

Manufactured diamonds are much more expensive than moisanites, and they are hard to come by and sometimes involve being on a waiting list...not kidding about the waiting. |

If she gets it appraised and is upset about it not being a Diamond, I figure that is a sign she might be a gold digger. the lie of omission is still misrepresentation. if you can't tell her before hand that you plan to buy her a CZ, then you already know the diamond is important in her eyes. you also know some fucktard will talk her into appraisal for "insurance purposes" or some other reason. don't play games. |

I think it's better if you start small, then every 5 years replace the stone with a bigger one......so by the time you're married 40 years you earned that huge rock!!! I have some friends who do that - they bought the first ring through a respectable store which has a trade-up policy. They trade that ring in every now and again for a bigger one. I have to admit that I don't have a diamond (except the one I inherited from my grandmother). We couldn't afford a ring when we got married so my husband found a yellow sapphire and had it cut and a gold setting made for it. It's got a lot of sentimental value and is unique - but was inexpensive to make. You could always go that route. Here I am thirty years later. I have a million dollars in the bank but I still don't have a diamond and I have no desire for one. I mean, I would always be worrying about losing it or having it stolen. It's just not worth the worry. I cringe when I see all these women with these huge diamond rings. |

Especially once she has gone and showed it off to all her friends...if you do this make sure she knows it isn't a real diamond, probably even before you decide to give it to her... |

Tell her you can't afford a nice diamond now, but will buy her one when your ship comes in. She should be happy with a nice wedding band, but if she's not, time to move on. You lack maturity and your relationship lacks honesty. |
