The key words in the article's title are "Russia", "combat troops" and "Norway".

To my knowledge Norway isn't in the Euro-Zone but it is part of NATO (correct me if I'm wrong)..

I was interested in the article's description of this deployment being "significant for its size and where it is".

They seem to be getting ready for something to happen in Europe.

Connect the dots. Poland, Czech, Italy etc recently called up a significant number of reserve troops, and just prior to that Switzerland said that they'd need to mobilize the army soon. Now this.

Wtf?

Just when I thought it was safe to come out of the bunker...

Then we just read that the British are telling their troops in UK bases to "work from home" from the 14th till the new year! Strange.

Maybe, with Iran planning to fire a long range missile, Israel/Gaza about to erupt, and all the Middle East stuff - there are a hell of a load of muslims in Norway - maybe it'll be an Islamic uprising at Christmas, or maybe they want to stop millions of muslims leaving Norway and going to Russia?

Got to watch Russia they don't often broadcast an assault before it happens......

this deployment maybe a Joint exercise coming up soon.....

could be something to do with the North pole exploration and resources.....

or on a sinister note they may have gotten wind of something big kicking off maybe Eurozone collapse.....

This just highlights the importance of the Arctic in the future. Resources, shipping lanes etc. There's been lots of talk about it in the past few years. Russia is simply reevaluating their priorities, the Arctic is contested and the boundaries are not clear. Russia is committed to working out the best deal possible for them and to guard their position. I don't see what the big deal is. All major countries do this.
