Thing is, Israel wouldn't waste it's most advanced security weapons on some mexican jumping beans fired from Hamas. Missiles from Iran, however warrant a blank check with everything in Israel's arsenal, including David's sling and more Laser anti-air technology.

IMHO Gaza was a test bed of the new laser anti-missile system.

1) Heron TP does NOT cost 35 million dollars. Even if that's what Israel would charge their customers, IDF would get it for much cheaper. Actual prices are not available, but it's a fact that most drones are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than either fighter jets or helicopters. The drones are also far less visible on radars and even if shot down, you don't lose human pilots or have a hostage situation.

2) Iran does NOT have "1,000's" of missiles that can reach Israel. At most, the Shahab-3 stockpile estimate is in the 300 range ---- and more than 1/2 of them were destroyed in that "mysterious" blast in November 2011 (that also killed Iran's missile Chief, ooops)

3) Remember, long-range missiles like Shahab-3 and Sejil are NOT like your small Grad rockets --- that is, big missile launchers are few & very difficult to hide from specialized modern military satellites and human intelligence on the ground. So most of Iran's long-range missiles indeed WILL be destroyed on the ground --- just like Hezbollah's and Hamas's in 2006, 2008, 2012. Except where IDF only used like 5% of its firepower against them, my guess is against Iran's nuke program & IRGC installations, Israel will dust off some of its futuristic, classified stuff. Heron TP aka "Eitan" is actually fairly simple tech compared to what Israel is holding back. Allegedly.

4) At most, the few 10 Iraninan long-range that will be fired at Israel in time..... will be intercepted by

-Arrow-3 (it's undergoing advanced trials as we speak)
-American Aegis SM-3
-Arrow-2 & Patriot-PAC will handle any leakage from Arrow-3 & Aegis
-Magic Wand will handle if anything semi-miraculaously "leaks" through the other 2 tiers.


Not to mention, Shehab missiles are not very accurate.

By comparison, when Saddam Hussein fired 42 advanced Russian Scud-D missiles at heavily populated Tel Aviv.... only 1 Israeli died. And even then it was debatable as to the true cause of death (I think heart attack)

The more Israelis die, the highest the chance Israel EMP's or Neutron-Bombs the fuck out of Iran, sending it to stone age. So if I were you, I would root for a speedy and relatively blood-less resolution of Iranian Issue.
