I've been there, man! I used to install cable modems and TV in the Bay Area with A&tt and then later with Comcast when they bought it out. People are fucking NUTS! You basically see all walks of life because pretty much everyone has a TV or has cable modem for internet these days.

At the end of my cable tech days I had one of the craziest bitches I'd ever come across totally flip out on me. She lived in an Apartment complex on the second floor. Went to her house and hooked up the stuff outside before I knocked. Spent about 30 minutes lookin for her freakin box, which I'm sure you can relate too. Finally found it and cleaned it up and and knocked on the door. Some fat chick in her late 30's who was real chatty and opinionated. She wanted an outlet put in a certain place. We don't install outlets in apartments unless there is written consent to install an outlet. She didn't have the written consent. I told her I would install the service at the only outlet there was in the apartment. She wasnt happy about that, but I continued anyway because it was her only option and that's the only outlet shes ever going to see in that apartment. Apartments don't give consent to drill holes.... EVER. It just doesn't happen unless its some private owner type. She argued with me about how it was ok and she didn't need it and this and that and how the outlet WAS going to be installed before I left...

By this time I have the service installed at the only outlet in the apartment and she finally lost it when she realized I wasn't going to install an outlet. She said I want you to leave RIGHT NOW!!! I said to her, "I can do that I just need you to sign this work order and I'll be out of here..." She wouldn't sign it even though everything was hooked up and I had the work completed. Then she said ""I'M CALLING THE COPS RIGHT NOW!!" And she proceeded to pick up the phone and dial 911. She seriously dialed 911.. wow (that still shocks me to this day) I think I said something smartass like "What are you gonna tell 'em? The cable guy is here and he wont put in an outlet for you?) She fucking lost it when I said that and started screaming at the top of her lungs like fucking rape victim... I don't even remember what the fuck she was screaming about. I finally got the point... I uninstalled all that shit in record time and got the fuck out of there.

Called my supervisor and all this shit and told him what happened.... Apparently she called back and requested some other tech come and and he basically told her everything I told her and he installed the service at the same outlet i did. I asked if she flipped out him? He said.. Nah she was cool, no problems... Yeah... of course.

Cable was fun though.. I like the type of work, being outside, meeting new people, seeing how they live, not having someone breath down my neck all day, new places everyday, considerable amounts of downtime to stop and get a drink or a snack between jobs. The pay was pretty good too. The hours could suck once in awhile.
