Re: No Birds, WTF???
If you live up north, wouldnt that explain it? Birds migrate south for winter.

If it did I wouldn't have started the thread.

Re: No Birds, WTF???
this is the time of year when we seem to get bird die-offs.
It has happened twice about this time in Arkansas, Missouri.

Here in Delaware lots of birds flying, flocking.

If it is anything abnormal, I think it is more tied to your location than to fewer birds.

Do not mean to sound scary, just mean it could be local conditions.

Keep us posted.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28167778

No fear here :)

It is starting to look like it's location related. Will do.

Re: No Birds, WTF???
Nature seems to be speeding up lately:
- Seeds sprouting and growing inside still fresh fruit and veggies.
- Animals born off season
etc.

Maybe the birds migrated early.
Quoting: The Light Under the Door

Possible but usually there are quite a few that don't ever leave, even in the bitter cold.

I live in the middle of nowhere...

I got 4 big big bird feeders...

I was just outside and the feeders were swarming with all different kinds of birds.

All is well and normal in Kentucky except for the warmer weather...

Its 66F here today... nice and warm... unusual for December.

Oh well I'll take warm over cold any day

Ty for the intel...MI here, mid-sized pond in the backyard that attracts numerous species, looking right at it all morning/afternoon and not a one.
 Quoting: siniXster

hmmm thats odd

makes ya wonder...

if one should follow them lol

well they are here in KY... lol

hope its just "one of them things" and not a sign of something.

There has only been one day in the last year i didnt see birds...

thought it was odd when i woke up and none were around...

we had a 4.3 quake... about a month ago.

Birds came back after the quake.

We went camping yesterday and it's in the 80's here, it feels and smells like spring, which is really odd here. They are calling it an indian summer here(Oklahoma) the animals are acting normal here though.

Three days before our large February quake the birds went missing, no sounds of them and none to be seen flying.

Aerosolized bird flu release, meant for humans, only killing birds so far. This is the second try in N. America. The first was about 5-6 years ago when the last bird flu govt. sponsored scare was in the headlines.

Did they fly south for the winter?

We have seagulls here waking me up every morning.

The weather hasn't broke enough here to chase the migrating birds away yet, still have flocks of Canadian Geese and ducks but no small birds.

Re: No Birds, WTF???
What few birds I see are acting very strange.
Today, a lone woodpecker was screeching..I thought
my dog had it caught! but is was outside in a tree and
then flew to another tree...screeching! They are
usually very silent.

Most of our birds disappeared in July.
This is GLP, and I realize most won't take this
seriously...but I find it very sad that our birds are
dying out...and I know the ones that migrate and the
ones that do not....they didn't migrate in July.

Re: No Birds, WTF???
Well we have no loss of birds here in NJ. I see scores of them all the time...even with this misty wanna-be-snow weather. My hubby was at work last week and he said he saw all different kinds of birds sitting together in lakes and ponds. (He delivers everywhere all day so he sees a lot of territory). He also noticed (and took a pic) of them covering multiple power lines all in one area. Maybe trying to get warm? It's strange though, cause the day in question seemed pretty nice to me.
