They celebrated his birth then because it was easier to hide their celebration during other religion's holidays.

I don't think the exact date is written in the bible? Seems plausible to me that they used the end of December since it was already being used by Pagans to celebrate yule. Yule would also explain the Christmas tree - which never made sense to me since evergreen trees do not grow where Jesus was born. No one could ever explain that to me as a kid. Easter is another one that makes no sense to me. What, praytell, do bunnies, chicks, and eggs have to do with crucification? It also convenienty corrolates with the Pagan holiday Ostara, the celebration of spring/ fertility. Hence the bunnies, chicks, and eggs.

Early Christians adopted Dec. 25, the birthday of the popular savior/God Mithras, as the birthday of Jesus. The Bible does not say on what day he was born. It was their way of legitimizing and filling in the vacuum left by paganism after Christianity ascended after Constantine. It was the Christian's way of supplanting Paganism.

Jesus also was not born on AD 1. Even the Pope admits this This was due to a mistake by a 5th century historian n chronicling Jesus's history. It was actually between 5 to 3 BC.

Sure, all religions and cults derived from Astrotheology or movement of the Planets and Stars. For three days from 21 Dec. until 24 Dec. the Sun stop and on the 25th a New Year starts. The Mayans have a story how the Sun disappears for 3 days and reappears. But they don't know if it is the same Sun. Thus in Christianity you have replaced Sun with Son, the birth of a New Son and Jesus Christ.

Right. For the same reason the Catholic Church picked Easter to celebrate the Resurrection, and Nov. 1 for All Souls Day. They built cathedrals on former pagan temple sites and changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. The idea was to replace paganism with Christianity.

Today Protestant fundamentalists think there's some conspiracy about all that, when it's all well documented in the history books for those who care to read. Most of these holy days have gone back to their pagan roots, but that's not the Church's fault.
