US Intelligence worried Syria may be considering use of chemical weapons
[link to security.blogs.cnn.com]

U.S. intelligence is concerned about the Syrian government's intent regarding its vast chemical weapons stockpiles after what one senior U.S. official described as "worrying signs" of activity in "the last few days."

"There are concerns the regime may be considering use of chemical weapons" the official told CNN. But the official stressed that the Obama administration has not come to a final conclusion about Syria's intent.

"This isn't just about movement, but about potential intent to make certain chemical weapons ready for use." The official admitted it is not entirely clear to the United States what the Syrian government is up to, or if this latest development was ordered specifically by the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

Before we invaded Iraq, the U.N. made us give Saddam Hussein 60 days to comply, and he used that time to send all of his WMD's and pet (nuclear?) projects to Syria for safe keeping, (shit, half his family lives there!) and that's why we didn't find them in Iraq, and now everyone has forgotten about that, now it's the same shit, different country.

Syria Moves Its Chemical Weapons, and U.S. and Allies Cautiously Take Note
By DAVID E. SANGER and ERIC SCHMITT

WASHINGTON — The Syrian military’s movement of chemical weapons in recent days has prompted the United States and several allies to repeat their warning to President Bashar al-Assad that he would be “held accountable” if his forces used the weapons against the rebels fighting his government.

The warnings, which one European official said were “deliberately vague to keep Assad guessing,” were conveyed through Russia and other intermediaries.

And yet more...

There are signs of new activity at Syrian chemical weapons sites, Western intelligence officials said, according to The New York Times.

The report, published Saturday, quoted a U.S. intelligence official as saying the regime of President Bashar al-Assad is “doing some things that suggest they intend to use the weapons.

“It's not just moving stuff around,” he explained. “These are a different kind of activities.”

It is possible Syrian Army forces are preparing to use the weapons in a last-ditch effort to save the government, officials told the paper. However, it is also possible they are simply warning to Western nations about the implications of providing assistance to rebel forces, they added.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has said repeatedly that he will not allow an existential risk to the Jewish State. This past summer, Netanyahu said during an interview on the U.S.-based television program “Fox News Sunday” that it is essential to prevent Syrian weapons from falling into the wrong hands.

One major concern is the possibility that part of the Syrian arsenal may be transferred to Lebanon. "Could you imagine Hizbullah – the people are conducting with Iran all these terror attacks around the world – could you imagine them having chemical weapons?” he asked the interviewer.

Will he do it and use chemical weapons?
By ABDUL RAHMAN AL-RASHED

Sunday, 02 December 2012

Of course it was not maintenance or technical malfunction when telephone networks and the Internet were disrupted, airport traffic was halted and roads leading to it were closed. These are all part of the war in Damascus.

We have entered a very difficult and dangerous phase in a war aimed at toppling Bashar Assad.

An awareness campaign was launched directed at the Syrian people in the event that Assad’s forces used lethal chemical and biological weapons. Here we are talking about the prospects of terrible massacres after the rebels have reached advanced stages in their attack and they are now knocking on the doors of Damascus.

Not only that, Saddam DID USE WMD on Kurdish people. Did he use it on Iranians during the war? He kept breaking promises to let people check to make sure he didn't have WMDs. That's why we invaded Iraq. It turns out thanks to sanctions, they didn't have any spares, etc to make more. Saddam didn't want Iran to know that the military had gotten much weaker out of fear that Iran would invade Iraq...
