POSSible VOLCANIC activity coming at COSO Volcanic Field-CALIFORNIA....MANY earthquakes...possibly awakening
Have you heard of the Coso VOlcanic Field. It is a very young Volcanic area with last activity around 600 years ago...

There has been a lot of earthquakes in the area....well over 200 in the last 30 days. But what is really interesting is that in the beginning of the last 30 days they were spread out and were happening in random locations in the general area...but they have now concentrated in to one small area..and notably the depths are also around the 2-3km depth which is getting pretty shallow...

Im watching that area closely, yes it is highly active compared to all year long. There are Hot Springs nearby, some few people know about, im curious if they have changed at all?...

Will monitor the area.

No worries....very unusual to get earthquakes swarms in dormant areas unless somethings cooking.

When Tongariro erupted here in NZ there was an earthquake swarm for about a month ( I think from memory around 80 quakes ) and then it erupted after 100 yrs of being dormant...so it is definitely something to keep a close eye on. Would be interesting to note if anyone has noticed any changes.

I lived in the upper Mojave desert for over 10 years, the Coso's are so beautiful to explore, lots of prior volcanic activity just about everywhere you turn....

Love to go back, but it's too cold right now, march through June is good.

To the north of there is Mono Lake, and Mammoth mountain....and we all know about those places.

No, the Salton sea is down near Baja California. COSO mountains are far to the north of the Salton.

Yep..there is something so unique and fascinating about Volcanic Landscape...I tramped over the Tongariro crossing when I was a teenager at school ( which was 20 yrs ago now...so long ago..lol)...it was an extremely tough tramp is places but well worth the effort.

There are so many volcanic areas that are having swarms lately around the world...and many that have awakened or erupted....there will be more- I reckon there are lots more that appear to be getting ready to wake up..

Least the area around it looks a lot like Tongariro too....no big settlements of people too close....

Hadn't heard of Coso before, but have indeed noticed something is going on with the swarming in both California and Alaska.

Even posted this thread about it: Thread: Constant small EQs in California and Alaska

Great Thread Taniatarn, the area is alive again, it seems it is cycling. I have a question about your tremors....

The tremors, did they cycle, was there a lul in action before the eruption?. I've noticed that Coso has a pattern and I'm curious whether we may see a plume event or minor eruption of ?..... From this area.

I rule nothing out, Coso is active.
