I shot my index finger at the range tonight.

I was at the indoor range that my county runs. In addition to doing qualifying for the SBI, troopers, and local LEOs, they open it up to the public as well.

I was setting up on the 100 yard range to do some target practicing with the ol M1 Garand. I call it Ma Bell. I went downrange when the range went cold to set up my target on the 50 yard line to start, then would move it back after I was dialed in.

I use 8" paper plates as targets since they're a lot cheaper than printed targets, and are the same size.

The target holders are a metal base with legs, two 1x2 wood furring strips, and a piece of cardboard between the wood uprights. Sometimes, when the targets are shot up, the cardboard can get pretty flimsy. So to steady the target, I put my hand on the backside.

I put the paper plate on the frontside, used pressure from the staple gun hold it in place, and pulled the trigger on the gun. I shot a staple through the plate, through the cardboard, and into my index finger on the hand I was using to steady the target from the rear! Youch!

I drew 2 inch bullseyes on the paper plates with my own blood. Now my finger looks like a baby vampire attacked it. At least I didn't shoot my trigger finger.
