The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to start asap a strong dose of doxycycline or minocycline for at least six weeks. Yes, those are both mainstream antibiotics, but they're very effective at treating Lyme Disease. If you're determined to go the alternative route, then get the book Healing Lyme by Stephen Harrod Buhner. [link to www.amazon.com] Buhner provides a very good protocol for how to self treat Lyme with herbal remedies. Many Lyme patients have found the most success by using a combination of antibiotics and herbs/supplements. If you feel like you have a bad reaction when you start your treatment, whether it's antibiotics or natural, that doesn't necessarily mean you're allergic to the medication. You may be experiencing a herxheimer reaction, where the the bacteria release toxins into your body as they die. It can be quite unpleasant, but it's quite normal when you're treating Lyme disease. Also, Borreliosis is not the only infection you can get from a tick bite, so I suggest researching what other tick-borne infections occur where you live and getting tested for them as well. In the U.S., Bartonella, Babesiosis, and Ehrlichiosis are common co-infections. If you have more questions, a good forum to check out is [link to flash.lymenet.org] (A word of caution, though; a few of the treatments discussed there are totally bogus and sometimes harmful, so you need to take some stuff there with a grain of salt.) |

I already started the doxycylin treatment, 400 mg a day (200 suggested by my doc, but i read on the web that 200 is often to low dosed). I will definately have a look into the herbal treatment as an addition to the anti bacterial treatment. Again, thanks, very much appreciated! |
