Relax. I'm folding laundry. I responded.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

"Christians", why do you buy gifts for each other on the 25th of December?

Is because:

1. You're not educated on the subject?
2. You follow what the masses do?
3. You're a pagan?
4. Or other?

Please elaborate if it is option 4.

Why the fuck are you so aggressive, bitch?

Do you have the answer to my original question?
hf
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8449454

Sure, bitch. I will answer why I buy gifts, not why others do nor will I bother going into the history of the pagan celebration, none it has anything to do with why I do what I do.

I buy gifts because I can. That's it.

My kids need shit, I get it for them. Of course I could buy their clothes and books and what not any other day of the year and I do but I see no harm in buying stuff and wrapping it up and letting them have a bit of fun on Christmas day. Everything they get is useful and needed so I don't see it as a waste.

I'm not religious.

Why on the 25th of December?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8449454

Because it's Christmas. Billions of people celebrate. Family and friends get extended vacations from work, we are all able to get together. I grew up celebrating Christmas, I like it, I will continue to do it every year.

What's your issue with the 25th??

Why do you not approve of people celebrating and gifting on that particular day?

I give gifts to family and friends. Because I love them and think that one day a year they should be given something. Just to show they are appreciated and loved......Its a family tradition.
Others, I'm sure do not do this. For religious beliefs or some sort of family upbringing. That's okay. Its their choice.
So.....I'm guessing you do not practice the gift giving in your family. Or you have chosen to not do it anymore?

Tradition = sheep like tendency to do as others before you have done.

It matters not that it's harmless, that people actually enjoy themselves. The grinchs wants everyone to be as miserable as they are and to stop doing things just because other people are doing it.

Re: Someone tell me, why do people buy gifts for each other on Christmas?
Someone tell me, why do people buy gifts for each other on Christmas?
Because they are all celebrating the Pagan Winter Solstice.

The 'rebirth of the sun- Osiris [not the SON] on the 25th when it rises again into the North, after it's previous slumber into the South on the 22nd.

All sun worshippers have done this through paleoancient times, during the solstice when the sun fell down the sundial to it's lowest point and stayed there for 2 days, the worshippers said it had 'died' because it was no longer moving, then at the end of the solstice on the 25th, the sun started it's rise back to the North, and the worshippers rejoiced and said, 'The sun is born', and exchanged gifts and joy, and feasted with each other.

The Babylonian sun worshippers carry on this religious Osiris worship tradition to this day [whether they claim they're religious, or not] when they participate.

Gifts at Christmas
The custom of exchanging gifts at Christmas comes from ancient times of giving small tokens or charms in hope of bringing people good luck for the following year. Common gifts were lamps (symbol of light) or silver and gold (wealth). It was all based on superstition. Most people know that Christ was not born anywhere near December 25th. He was actually born in the late summer or early fall. We can know this because the Bible says the shepherds were in the fields tending to their flock when He was born. It is too cold in December. The shepherds would not have had their flocks in the fields at that time.

The Christmas tree
The Christmas tree is actually mentioned in the Bible. It is recorded in Jeremiah 10, many years before Christ was ever born, but it was not spoken of as a good thing, but as evil that we should not participate in:

Thus says the Lord: Learn NOT the way of the Gentiles. Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the Gentiles are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are futile (vain). For one cuts a tree from the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They decorate it with silver and gold. They fasten it with nails and hammers so that it will not topple They are upright, like a palm tree, and they cannot speak.

This verse describes a Christmas tree exactly. The heathens were putting up Christmas trees long before Christ was even born.

"Christians", why do you buy gifts for each other on the 25th of December?

Is because:

1. You're not educated on the subject?
2. You follow what the masses do?
3. You're a pagan?
4. Or other?

Please elaborate if it is option 4.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8449454

I'm a Christian and I don't celebrate Christmas.

I don't have a problem with anyone else choosing to celebrate Christmas. But when Christians do it without understanding its pagan and Catholic origins, that's disappointing.

And when the pagan and Catholic origins of "Christ's Mass" are revealed to them, and they then choose to do it anyway, it becomes annoying. But they have the free will to continue in their error if they choose.

Most Christians that hear the truth about the origin of Christmas, afterward choose to continue to follow their culture over their religion. Then it becomes an idol to them, and they can no longer plead ignorance before God for their actions.

Little do most realize how knowledge of evil changes their accountability before God. That's a lesson that Adam and Eve learned the hard way.

I also don't have a problem with anyone giving gifts to anyone else at any time at all. But if Christians wrap up their gifts with decorations, and give them to others on the winter solstice, then their annual Christmas ritual becomes a pagan ritual, without their even knowing they're participating in such a thing. I think they deserve to be told the truth of the pagan rituals they unknowingly participate in.

So, if you know it's a pagan ritual and you then choose to do it anyway, then I have nothing to say about that, except that your idolatry will become a matter of discussion between you and God when the time comes.

Another thing that amazes me is that people give superfluous gifts to one another on Christmas. If someone is having a birthday, and you want to celebrate their birthday, do you give them a gift, or do you give your friend a gift instead? It makes little sense to give gifts to people other than the birthday person, yes?

If it's this person who is having a birthday celebration, shouldn't you give them gifts that will make them happy? And if they are not here, and if you cannot send gifts to them, maybe you can do something in their name that will make them happy?

You can make Yeshua(Jesus) happy by doing good things for people in need. Yeshua loves charity, so giving to a noble charity or charitable cause would be an excellent birthday gift to Yeshua, (even though His birthday was most probably at another time of the year.)

As was mentioned above, when you do something good for the least of His people, it is as if you are doing it for Him. So do a good deed for Him. Don't give an unwanted gift to someone who already has everything they want. Instead, give something simple to someone who's truly in need.

So if you want to give each other gifts this winter, that's great. But if you truly want to do something special for Christ's birthday this season, why not honor Him by doing something charitable in His name for someone who is truly in need?

Peace

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28981586

It was mostly a Euro-pagan theme.

The Catholic church (in Rome) adopted many pagan rituals in an effort to tempt pagans into joining the Roman Catholic Church. An early pope actually admitted such on record.

So Roman Catholicism became a blending of Christianity and a pagan beliefs. And the RCC invented Christmas as a part of that ritual blending. And from them it came into mainstream Christian culture. And it's still that way today. Most knowledgeable non-Catholic preachers are too scared to take a stand for the truth of the matter, as they are afraid of getting fired by their stubborn and idolatrous church members.

Interestingly enough, the early American Puritan settlers understood the pagan nature of Christmas and banned it in their colony for a short time, until popular demand overturned their sanction.

Re: Someone tell me, why do people buy gifts for each other on Christmas?
The oft quoted verse in the Bible refers to the construction of an idol as the custom of the Christmas tree originated in Germany. German born Victoria and Albert started to put one up in Buckingham Palace for their children in honour of the customs of their homeland. From there there the custom of the Christmas tree spread to the British ruling class and then throughout society and the western world. Boxing Day also originated in Victorian England along with the Christmas card.

The point being is that these are cultural custom and I'm sick of yids from Australia and elsewhere mocking my cultural traditions.

Go stuff a holiday candelabra up your ass.

And leave my Christmas tree alone.

Re: Someone tell me, why do people buy gifts for each other on Christmas?
"Christians", why do you buy gifts for each other on the 25th of December?

Is because:

1. You're not educated on the subject?
2. You follow what the masses do?
3. You're a pagan?
4. Or other?

Please elaborate if it is option 4.

Number four......And I already elaborated.

Your answer will never be good enough for the scrooges.

Tradition = sheep like tendency to do as others before you have done.

It matters not that it's harmless, that people actually enjoy themselves. The grinchs wants everyone to be as miserable as they are and to stop doing things just because other people are doing it.

I don't know why I answered in the first place. A waste of energy. lol
Some people seem to see only the bad in life. I choose not to. Wonder if that would be considered what the masses do. lol

It's not really a question of enjoying one's self or seeing that the glass is half-empty, etc. It's simply a question of the truth vs. cultural delusion.

Once you know the truth, you can do with it whatever you want. The spiritual burden of that truth is then yours to bear after that.

You have free will to do whatever you want.

Peace
