He will receive well over 250,000 dollars. People will come out of the woodwork with offers of housing, jobs etc. He will take the money, and possibly the housing, but will decline any job offers. Meanwhile unemployed parents everywhere will continue to struggle trying to keep a roof over their own heads while searching for jobs. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1199093 United States 12/03/2012 08:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe he should sell his expensive shoes and go buy a fuckin cherry pie and choke on it. I truly believe some folks are on the street cause they choose to be, much like this ingrate. Quoting: Inferniouz I think there are homeless people that struggle back from it. But people living on the street seem to not want to work their way back to having a home, and job. They do decline offers of help that mean they would have to continue the struggle by actually helping themselves. Of course many are on some form of disability. SSI or VA benefits. Some probably do have mental health issues that would stop them from having a career, or even being dependable about paying simple bills like rent. It is sad for those people. But there are some that really do choose that lifestyle despite attempts from family or friends to assist them. |

He took the shoes off because they're too valuable, and he want's a piece of pie as payment because his "photo has been used in newspapers". Quoting: JennOfArc [link to www.nypost.com] When I first heard this story the first thought to my head was what a smart gimic, no shoes on a cold day couuld really garner some sympathy. I also thought the "why lie I just want beer sign was good to. |

Quoting: J-Honey I never felt the awwwww moment like everyone else, because didnt the cop post it on his own FB page? Isn't that like HEY LOOK AT ME AND THIS GREAT THING I DID? I hate FB. Narcissistic whores. I agree. It seemed set up or something. Like the cop wanted the publicity. Didn't the homeless guy say he had never had a pair of shoes? Was he born on the street and raised by the homeless? I didn't get the aww moment either. |

Now this homeless guy is being exploited because he was bought an expensive pair of shoes. If people buying other people expensive things with no expectation of anything in return is now considered exploited, then people can exploit me as much as they like. |

Won't be surprised when what you said happens. There was that incident of an old bus monitor who was ridiculed by kids not too long ago and the public donated her over $500k. This ungrateful homeless guy will probably get tons of money and appear on daytime talk shows. |

Tashie User ID: 28067342 United States 12/03/2012 09:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Jennifer Foster of Florence, AZ was visiting Times Square with her husband Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. She writes, “Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.” Our thanks to the Fosters for their attention and appreciation, and especially to this officer, who remains anonymous. *image cropped from the distance at which it was taken" [link to www.facebook.com] It just sickens me to think that the homeless man sold the boots! It is such a gimme-gimme society these days. Many people don't have to work for what they get anymore and it shows in how little respect they have for these things. |

How you respond to this trial, will separate the wheat from the chaff. The man obviously has mental and dietary issues and I am sure, more problems than you can shake a stick at. He is also facing great trials daily, without being in a stable environment. How you equate to this story could discern if your spirit has learned UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND COMPASSION for our fellow HUMAN BEINGS. Our Creator Source has two commandments: LOVE ONE ANOTHER. LOVE OTHERS AS YOU WOULD WANT TO BE LOVED. What are the nine deadly sins? |

If the cop didnt have his own pic taken, and didnt post it on FB for the world to see, and someone else took it, without his knowing.....and posted on their FB, then I would have believed the cop to be genuine, and my opinion would be different. |
