It's an extremely common fallacy/falsehood that's parroted by the lazy & the stupid.
And sadly, even the smart Conspiracy Theorists are not immune to take something as highly complex/debatable as the quoteed supposition...and treating as gospel, like some sort of 'Corporate Commandment' almost.
I mean, in the context of the Great Depression... World War 2 did come along rather fortuitously -- if I can call that ALL-TIME HORRIFIC MEAT-GRINDER using a word like "fortuitous".... America did get off relatively, um, easy on the whole. But even then, I don't think it's right to take all the positive reforms & economic booms that came in the 1950's in US and later Japan/Western Europe --- and then turn it into some a giant conspiracy... In fact it would be downright RETARDED to do that.
Small example: 2nd Lebanon War. It was grossly mismanaged by the Leftists in charge of Israel at the time, and of course whatever 11th gains by Israel, were effectively wiped out by the ever-so-judicious "International Community"...
Well, was that war good for the economy? Lebanon has never recovered since despite billions of dollars infused by Iran, Saudis, Qatar and the EU to rebuild.... And it cost Israeli economy estimated
5.5 billion dollars, which is a LOT of money for such a tiny state, with no oil revenue.
So I bet if you were to ask either Lebanese OR Israelis whether the 5-week 2006 adventure was worth it, they'd both probably throw something at you. Hell, even Hezbollah that started that conflict, well their shit-talking leader Hassan Nasrallah admitted on TV afterwards that had he known how harsh Israeli response would be, he would NOT have ordered the kidnapping of 2 IDF soldiers. I mean, even a jihadi fanatic Hassan Nasrallah understands that wars are no fun for anyone.
War is only good for weapons-makers, and even then it's not always the case --- if the war leads to terrible economic slowdown, military budgets could be shrink big-time ----> not to mention, all sorts of Congressional investigations could be launched to investigate just what was the role of the Military-Industrial Complex and their lobbyists & friends overseas, in the war..... What, it COULD happen, right? Right? LOL :)
