If you work and buy your own house they aren't after you...yet Really, if they are given housing and tear up shit that doesn't belong to them they should be kicked out. ungrateful losers shouldn't keep getting freebies if they don't appreciate them The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." | TDJ User ID: 26423286 12/03/2012 08:04 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's simple enough - if you expect someone else to pay for or subsidize your rent, you're subject to their rules. Don't like it? Get a job and pay for your own housing. Quoting: Anodyne339 According to the article, the people they want to send there don't HAVE to go - they can leave and pay for their own housing somewhere else. It's not a prison. Frankly, I think it's pretty generous. They're troublemakers who aren't being kicked out altogether, but still given paid-for housing away from the non-troublemakers. People have the right to be assholes if they want, but they DON'T have the right to do it on someone else's dime. That's what I was thinking as I read it too. They aren't doing this to homeowners, it's freeloaders that tear up free housing and ruin neighborhoods The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." | Anonymous Coward User ID: 28988269 12/03/2012 08:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First of all, i love people and i value life... But at the same time i have to mention, that "nuisance neighbours and anti-social tenants" etc., as this article calls them, absolutely cannot expect to be treated like kings and queens so to speak, at least as long as they do not contribute positive things to society. These anti-social people should finally grow up, stop complaining and instead should finally start to make something very positive with their precious lives, period. Such obnoxious people can ruin whole neighborhoods and even whole countries etc. and therefore it is perfectly alright to implement countermeasures in order to prevent utter decay etc.; Very "tough love" and "zero tolerance" etc. is maybe indeed, what such anti-social people (temporarily) need in order to finally make positive progress. I am against creating ghettos, but at the same time it seems, as if these anti-social people have brought this special situation and treatment (temporarily) upon themselves due to their absolutely unacceptable behaviour etc.; I wish all of them the very best. It will be very interesting to see, how all of this will develop. |

Gated communities, that's fucking worse tahn Fema right thurrr. According to the Dutch article, this procedure was also done in the 19th century with "troublemakers" being relocated to Drenthe and Overijssel. Apparently, that's not a heavily discussed subject on the net because it's hard to find out why the Dutch article had a poor view of them but I did find this: In the nineteenth century, the Dutch government decided to use Drenthe as a place to put 'unwanted elements' of society. Beggars and vagabonds, but also orphans that could not be placed, were transported to Drenthe to live in colonies. They were to till the land. This way, people all over the Netherlands ended up in Drenthe. [link to www.dutchgenealogy.nl] In the early 19th century, the Dutch government changed it into a resocialisation institution and labour camp for beggars, prostitutes and alcoholics from Amsterdam and other western cities. They were supposed to learn farming and morals by experience so they could reintegrate into society. In reality the beggars were used for semi-forced and all-but-unpaid labour to reclaim the wetlands surrounding Ommerschans, eventually reclaiming an area of 4 by 2½ kilometres. Politician and novelist Jacob van Lennep visited Ommerschans during his walking tour with Dirk van Hogendorp across the newly independent United Kingdom of the Netherlands in the summer of 1823, and documented his appal at the conditions at the labour camp: "These hours are certainly among the saddest I have lived through." [link to en.wikipedia.org] So back then the undersirables were the poor, vagabonds and orphan children that nobody wanted and it turned into labour camps. How charming indeed. I have been to the Netherlands, btw, so I do agree that the Dutch are very friendly for the most part. Yet, even the nicest people can do something that is inappropriate and questionable at times. We had put in new tile and carpeting. They left a hole through the floor by the front door. Holes in EVERY wall, broken windows, electrical outlets and light fixtures torn out and missing. They took off 2 back doors and used them for fencing, can't be put back. They broke the water lines to the water heater, there is only about 10 inches left of the bathroom sink sitting on the floor. And we had to run the cooler even though it was in the low 60's because of the smell. The carpets are slick with grease and dirt in many places. Quoting: crazycloud They probably did about $10,000 in damages and only lived there for 6 months. After today I can see putting people like this either in there slum like they made for themselves, or having a published list of slum tenants so landlords are warned. I am sick of what I saw today, took a middle class house and made it unlivable by most peoples standards. Sickening Do a search on "California Apartment Association" There are at least 4 different organizations for owners of rental properties, including houses. Call them and ask about a bad tenant' list such as you mentioned. I know that a few exist but I don't remember the exact names of them. Thank you for the info, I will check it out. The sad thing is landlords give good references just to get someone out of their house faster. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29000281 Ghettoize anti-social "scummers", and keep them away from decent people so they can only "scummerize" each other. I like it! Me too. If you have ever lived close to an obnoxious neighbor, this will make sense. How about a neighbor who has barking dogs at all hours of the day and night that don't bother to care if anyone else is bothered? The list is long for inconsiderate neighbors. |
