Limpan (OP) User ID: 1474973 Sweden 12/03/2012 05:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is accusing the Syrian government of serious violations of the 1974 agreement that separated Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan Heights and is calling on both countries to halt firing across the cease-fire line. Ban urged Syria to stop deploying troops and military equipment in the disputed zone. In a report to the U.N. Security Council circulated Monday, Ban said recent incidents across the cease-fire line have shown the potential to escalate Israeli-Syrian tensions, and jeopardize the agreement and the region's stability. |

littlemiracles User ID: 28283064 United States 12/03/2012 06:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The United States has warned Syria against using chemical weapons stockpile against its civilians. Quoting: Limpan "And as the president has said, any use or proliferation of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime would cross a red line for the United States," he added. Carney said the Damascus regime should know that the world was watching, and regime members would be held accountable by the US and the international community, if they used chemical weapons or failed to meet their obligations to secure them. Interesting turn of phrase I've bolded, no? The Obama regime is on the side of every evil nightmare on Earth. NO Shit! |

A no fly zone and a neutral zone for refugees fleeing to Turkey. WMD's have to be secured and destroyed safely. This could escalate quickly. |
goodmockingbird User ID: 28977383 United States 12/03/2012 06:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A sensible scenario that can be read between the lines: Sarin is produced by two chemicals, we'll call them Chem A and Chem B. Everything is fine, safe, and "proper" as long as A and B are stored far away from one another, in distantly separate buildings. Weaponised sarin is produced when A and B physically combine, like in a blender (or a whirling missile that slams a glass vial of A into an adjascent glass vial of B). Placing cylinders of A and B side by side (or in the same building) means that they are no longer "stored properly". Placing vials of them together side by side in a warhead means they are really, really no longer stored properly. When the two vials get dropped together in a warhead, then that is when they physically combine and produce the sarin. Perhaps our latest news reports are that quantities of A and B have been transported into one facility. They "could" still be separated and rendered safe, but it would be kind of dangerous to move them around unnecessarily once they are that close together. In short, there is no reason to go moving them together into one facility unless you intend to weaponise them into sarin. Just one scenario, but it is sensible, and fits all of the bits of data that we have now. I Support Our First Responders |

Considering Al Qaeda has been after this stuff for a while now. With 12-21-2012 coming up the assailants might use a hi-jacking technique of a religious holiday or substantial date for mass impact. An attack on 12-21-2012 would have a stronger impact versus an attack on a normal day with little significance. I dread the idea of chemical weapons. For the sake of innocent lives, women with little children, I hope they are not deployed. The alternative idea, false flag, is just a damning. It points to a broad war in the region growing. |

Which makes sense, and what any nation with the capability would do to protect themselves. Hes just sticking to his word. If the world does not want to see destruction, then stop supporting the terrorist....and encouraging other countries to attack. When it comes down to the fight, the people on the side lines wont be forgotten. Just sayin |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27483992 United States 12/03/2012 09:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to security.blogs.cnn.com] Earlier in the day, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned the United States was prepared to act if Syria used chemical arms, saying that step would cross a red line previously drawn by President Barack Obama. “I’m not going to telegraph in any specifics what we would do in the event of credible evidence that the Assad regime has resorted to using chemical weapons against their own people. But suffice it to say, we are certainly planning to take action if that eventuality were to occur,” Clinton told reporters. Syria made a statement that they would NEVER use chemical weapons on their citizens. I'm sure if they don't use them, then the "somebody" will make it happen so the US can take action. As stated by a few in other threads and forums, Syria will be the catalyst to get us back in the Middle East at full force. |
