Homemade chili - beans or no beans
I experienced chili doom last night,

I am from Texas. My girlfriend who is from up north made homemade chili last night, I think she put 3 types of beans in it. We got into a discussion about how chili shouldn't have beans in it.

So what do you think.. beans or no beans?

I make it both ways depending on what sounds good at the time...beans add needed fiber to the chili...

Chili ain't chili without the beans in it. scream

...one exception....when you using it as a hotdog topping....then it's better to have no beans or to blend them into the chili.

70 percent meat, 30 percent beans

I had someone from Illinois make me chili once, it was like bean soup all watery. I was like this is disgusting!!!!! They used big cans of tomato juice.....it was seriously like SOUP. 80% liquid 20% beans..

Next time she will make the beans separate. I like real chili and the next day if you want to add it to a burger, baked potato or whatever your not gonna want beans in it,

It has to be thick, not too tomatoey, and simmered for hours to be good chili. Your ratio sounds good, though I lean toward a slightly higher ratio of beans for personal preference. Soupy thin chili is gross.

I like chili with beans, and I also like chili without beans. Both are delicious, if they're done right.
