Homemade chili - beans or no beans | |

I used to point that out to people constantly as I served them my homemade chili that was based on a recipe that I got from a friend who is from Mexico. Anymore, I just let it slide, because if nobody else gives a shit, (pardon the pun) why should I. My girlfriend who is from up north made homemade chili last night, I think she put 3 types of beans in it. We got into a discussion about how chili shouldn't have beans in it. So what do you think.. beans or no beans? I don't know what the fuck they're teaching you people down there in the great state of Texas, but if it ain't got beans, it ain't chili. |

Anonymous Coward 12/03/2012 05:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Seriously, if you were my boyfriend, and you gave me shit about putting beans in chili where they fucking belong... Keep in mind I am a fucking great cook... I would leave you so fucking fast it would make your head spin and I would let EVERYONE know your dirty fucking little secrets including the pathetic size of your dick, and I would be sure everyone knew everything else negative you ever said or did to me. You wouldn't even get as bad of a backlash for literally smacking me across the face. Seriously. |

He said they had a talk about it. What's your problem anyway? Now I read up on this very subject and the ORIGINAL chili was just beef mashed up with (guess) chiles! Since then there have been many variations introduced inlcuding 'white chili', chicken chili, pork chili. Beans or no beans, now it's the sauce flavorings that make it chili. That's why I can go to the store and buy a can of "chili beans" - no meat. Get off yer damn high horse. |

He probably nit-picks minuscule shit like this all the time and treats her like shit... I mean it's not like that isn't typical. I've read OP's replies, seems like a total asshole to me. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4545733 United States 12/03/2012 09:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My vote goes for the beans. I used to only use kidney beans from a can. But in my little store only two brands of kidney beans and both of them are too hard, even after being canned. So I switched to pinto beans. Now I prefer them to the kidney beans. I'm making a batch tomorrow and picked up all my ingredients today. What's better than a "good" bowl of chili? |

Hi, We have been together for about 10 years. We treat each other with respect. We never fight. We have both been thru alot together. I listen to her thoughts, views and ideas. She listens to mine. We don't have to agree about everything, No reason to fight about it. If we were exactly like each other that would be very boring. LOL. We are in our mid-40's. After being ran thru the coals by socialpaths and other evils in the world, we got out if it together. Having each other's back is the only way. Like I said, we don't aways agree about everything and that is fine with both of us. Our core beliefs are the same. There are some differences to keep things interesting... Last night it was beans. :) I don't like beans in my chili. She likes beans in her chili. I respect that. So does she, We talked about it then watched some Walking Dead. We had a great night. Life is too short to look for drama everywhere. That is something we both believe in. |

Beans and chili do go together very well, so I prefer my chili with beans -- thank you :) Last Edited by MesaMom on 12/03/2012 09:27 PM |

Take mesquite smoked sausage and/or pork/venison sauasage. Split them in half at hot dog lengths. Brown them in a skillet and when caramelized add the beanless chili. Use them like hot dogs in hot dog buns. Add chili and Guldens deli mustard as a topping. Fuckin better than better was ever better! It's like "hold sex I'm having a better time". |

These folks are pretty serious about their chili and one thing is for sure, NO BEANS!!! [link to www.chilicookoff.com] a interesting history of chili as well... [link to www.chilicookoff.com] I've made about 6 different chili dishes using the recipes from the ICS website there and have been happy with every one of them. |
