No christmas tree in the European Union this year.
Just saw this thread:
Thread: As Americans face a fiscal cliff, the Obamas make do with 54 Christmas trees

At least you guys are still keeping up with traditions!

This year, the European Union decided not to get a real christmas tree. It might be "offensive" to people who aren't christians.

A Christmas tree isn't even a Christian symbol. It's just a tree with decorations.
Many Muslims find the faces of women to be offensive. Are we going to cover up Giselle bunchen too?

Re: No christmas tree in the European Union this year.
But the tree decorating is a pagan tradition yeahsure

Dating back centuries before Christ, cultures brought evergreen trees, plants, and leaves into their homes upon the arrival of the winter solstice, which occurs in the northern hemisphere between December 21st and 22nd. Although the specific practices were different in each country and culture, the symbolization was generally the same: to celebrate the return of life at the beginning of winter's decline.

Egyptians particularly valued evergreens as a symbol of life's victory over death. They brought green date palm leaves into their homes around the time of the winter solstice.

Romans had a public festival called Saturnalia, which lasted one week beginning on December 17th, and included a variety of celebrations around the winter solstice. Curiously, the Roman winter solstice was marked on December 25th on the Julian calendar. These celebrations are thought to have merged with pagan practices of hanging mistletoe and the burning of the Yule log. [link to www.christmastreehistory.net]

They have been dismantling the religious side of christmas for years, what with removing the nativity from infant schools etc.

I'm aware all eurocountries and amerika that contribute have to pay war reparations, via accepting these people, but the rule should be intergrate orfuckoff2

Re: No christmas tree in the European Union this year.
if i may be so bold to throw this crazy prediction out there...

most people think wars between certain religions (mainly christians vs muslims) will be the downfall of humanity.

I disagree.

I think eventually after years of debate/war there will be one religion, one God.

Then the real battle will begin, the battle of relgion/faith vs science/evolution.

Those who don't believe ina supernatural presence versus those who do.

After this humanity will be at peace, or be gone.
 Quoting: secretninja

no there won't be. science is just another religion.

here is what really happens.

the elites of the planet become so powerful they declare themselves GODS. You will have to worship them or die.

Re: No christmas tree in the European Union this year.
It is ridiculous, if the majority of people are christians in this country, they have total right to celebrate the christmas. Muslims, jews, hindis, etc. have nothing to complain.
By the other hand, is less waste and trash to throw out after, i particulary dont give a sh**, if they will put a giant christmas tree or a star of davi in middle of the square, I guess is more useful if they use that public money to do something which the people realy need.

Re: No christmas tree in the European Union this year.
does it really matter where the tradition of decorating christmas trees came from? with time it became a symbol of christmas, this is how traditions are formed. the problem here is that such a widely accepted symbol of a religious celebration is basically banned.

do you know who else wanted to oppress, banish and end religion? (christianity in particular)? the communists. no wonder, the EU is filled with commies.
