My daughter just called me from Anchorage and was very shaken up. She said that it felt like a small tremmer that was followed by a doozy. the preliminary shows 5.8 mag. It will probably be changed several times before they settle on a number.

yeah, it was a good shaker, slow build to the "oh shit should I run" point and then backed down.

Earthquake was 5.8 mag. and 47 KM west of Anchorage and 37 KM deep.

Made allot of noise, was in the inlet. Hoping i wouldnt have to go running outside...its cold out there..below zero and i didnt even have socks on at the time...

Dam 83 degrees! Sorry, i think i would melt in the heat..im used to cooler temperatures..i would be like a pop sickle in a frying pan there.

I knew it was a pretty good one, anymore and shit would have been coming off my walls. This isn't a good time of year for a big earthquake here. -20 or so in the next couple days.

Yeah i know what you mean, we have a wood burning fireplace and chopped wood for it but the fireplace is upstairs..wouldn't help the downstairs where most of the critical water pipes are..if the power went out for an extended time.

I could help comfort her... I know how distressing this kind of stuff can be. ;)
