We need to be within arms reach of intergalactic travel, and knowing the true nature of the universe puts us there within arms reach. an alien civilisation wants to prevent an unexpected encounter with a fledgling world, at the same time respecting its natural evolutionary progression.So they want to observe us until we get to that place. being here where we are now with our current knowledge qualifies us to be part of the bigger picture i think anyway, maybe star trek has corrupted my mind

Correcting that error makes all the difference in the world.

I remember a naturalist describing a hike on the top of the Sierras where St Elmo's fire would outline a branch held up to the sky. Walking on the ridge felt tingly.

This is an absolutely amazing moment for me. This is the first time in my 46 years of life that a scientific concept of Cosmology that I was taught was science fact, will begin being printed out of textbooks tomorrow.

I know science is finding new discoveries everyday, but this is a big thing for me. We are watching this new truth being revealed in real-time. That's fucking awesome!

I'm not sure we know, yet. It's in the process of happening. The only thing that is changing is our understanding of how our solar system is influenced by interstellar space and vice versa.
